Looking to buy K1200LT. What to look for

Making the jump from cruiser to touring. Looking at 2001 K1200LT with 46,000 miles. I have a couple I'm looking at. I'm wondering if there is anything I should look fo out of the normal things.

I suggest you post in the K1200LT forum under Alternate Bikes a little farther down the page.

Welcome to the forum!

That's a great bike

Please google BMW Motorrad Club Northern Illinois.
They have all the answers to your questions in video form and even every possible instruction on how to fix it.

Welcome again!

A great bike, I have a 2001 LT and love it. If you don't get what you are looking for here, you can also go look on BMWLT, more Great info and LT owners there. Welcome to the forum.

DITTO! I had an '03 LT and didn't know it when I purchased it that '03 was a great year - I thoroughly enjoyed that back and rode 1100 miles in one day & some guys here do that routinely....

The only other thing I'd be looking for is a '07 K1200 GT!

That's funny. I have a problematic '07 K1200GT. I want to sell it and buy an LT or Harley Electra Glide.

If you want to live in perpetual agony, and have a bottomless money pit, go ahead and get that rollin' POS.

Oh, but they're awesome when they run (briefly).

Ha! I've had many ups/downs with bikes and the money I spent on 'em I'd have spent on some other option to fill the void.... I was 16 when I had to have a major surgery - before I checked in, I went on a 2 hour ride through the pastures and hills outside of Cheyenne Wy.... I knew then that there was nothing that brought me more joy/freedom than being on that bike in God's outdoor cathedral....

For me, bikes are just like life - you take the good with the bad and when it's good - you soak up EVERY second of it -- that's my story, I'm sticking to it.....

Sorry for the sappy response - my neighbor just told me over the fence that they pulled his wife off life support last night - she's gone at 46.... Could have been me a long time ago - time for a ride!
