What options are there for service/repair manual?

What do most BMW owners do for a service/repair manual? Buck-up for the OEM repair manual on CD? There doesn't seem to be a Clymer or Haynes for the K1200S, even though they can be quite poor sometimes. I don't want to do anything involved, just oil/filter changes, wheel removal, battery replacment, final drive oil replacement, coolant replacement, brake/clutch fluid replacement, etc.. Nothing complicated, just normal user maintenance.

I have always sprung for the BMW DVD's. Everything you stated you can find right here in detail.

Search is your friend.

The coolant both draining and filling require to be down under vacuum again plenty of info here about the proper procedure.

Re: What options are there for service/repair manual?

One way to go would be to find somebody with a K1200S manual and get them to print out the appropriate pages for oil change, final drive change, etc.

Also, check out this thread on I-BMW.com: http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=12463

I hate spending that much on a service manual when I may not keep the bike for than a few years. It's my idiom.
Yes, searching can be a powerful tool when the search argument is somewhat unique. Searching for "oil filter" seems to get me every single thread/post with the word "oil".

Re: What options are there for service/repair manual?

You can get one on ebay for about $14.
Then you have the CD and can setup the computer in the workshop, or print out the pages you need on the day. Might as well have your own copy.
I got the one from Canada, it works fine.

Honestly i dont know, i had no problems with the one from canada, that was a few years ago, you would think they would have been shut down by now if BMW had a problem with it.
With the amount of money we spend on BMW parts and servicing, my conscious is clean.

Off course they are completely legal.
Copied by a certified BMW StEalBAY retailer with a genuine OEM certificate.
It will be hand delivered to you by a BMW courier.

You just need to overlook when it says "eh" after every sentence.
