For us here in the U.S. that's about 10 oz's and 1365 miles. So a quart every 4,100 miles. Sure no oil consumption would be great but that is not terrible. I will be posting a little later about my bike in the original post about oil consumption - I was at the dealer this morning and got an update on my bike.

Re: oil consumption.

Theory !?! : these engines burn less oil if they are run consistently over 4K. Just a theory.

Re: oil consumption.

Mine was babied by the first owner and burned oil at 5000 mi., though still well within BMW's spec for this bike. I ran the motor like it is supposed to be run, without short-shifting, and voila the oil consumption dropped significantly. So, that's what I recommend -- run it in the 7-9K range, and take it up to redline periodically. The quickshifter is really fun in those ranges, too.

Short shifting is encouraged by the 5-6K vibey part of the tach, but once it's over that it's all smooth HP through the roof. The torque curve is pretty flat so the feeling of thrust doesn't change a lot from 3K.
