Re: Motorcycling is a

For me riding is a fundamental and essential thing in life like eating, breathing, walking, without it i'm a dead person i need it to live, stuck riding a car would mean i'm a quadraplegique.
It means freedom, all the care in the world dissapear no more worries mind bogling just me the wind the sun the rain no matter what when you ride the weather is always nice

I feel ya buddy, but at least lawn darts has somewhat of a risk associated with it. To my mind curling is a f$%king joke, a real slap in the face of all those other athletes that actually have to break a sweat to compete; it's even beneath the Special Olympics. It should be removed from the Olympics!!! On the bright side, it's highly unlikely they would have to test any participants for use of steroids or performance enhancing drugs; however, they should probably test thier cholseterol and for alcohol and marijuana use.

For me it is theraphy - it re-charges the old batteries! It also gives a different perspective on your surroundings when you ride.

I cannot imagine myself without a bike. It is everything and anything you want it to be.

The oldest person riding was over 102! (Len Vale-Onslow) That would give me a lot more years to ride than I have been riding!

It's an excellent way to unwind, relieve stress, take your mind off your troubles of the day. Plus, it's the adult version of dragging my toys out of the toybox and playing with them!

...it's a drug!

I've had a box sitting in my office for a over week that I need to bring home, which means I have to take the car one day... OK, I know what you're thinking, the commute in the car is horrendous, so of course you would rather take the bike... but I'm only 15 mins from the office even on a bad day, so it's not that... I actually look forward to leaving for work in the morning and leaving the office in the afternoon, and I wish I lived further from work... sometimes I'll take a longer way home just for the hell of it... I find myself thinking of excuses to go out at lunch time to run errands.. I feel down if I don't at least have a short ride planned on the weekend, and will often make up an excuse just to go out some where...

...starting to sound awfully like a drug addiction to me!!!

The way I get from A to B. Only been riding for about 7 years, but I sold my car after it hardly left the drive over a 5 year period. Wife still has one though, so I have something to use when taking all the accumulated crap down the tip I have a K1300GT at the moment, but keep thinking of getting a little F800GS for when it snows as the car drivers tend to give you funny looks... Definitely agree there should be an obsession choice!

A psychological respite to clean out the unnecessary mental noise from the day or week; to work out questions that need resolution; additionally, to consolidate and organize your focus toward the place you want to be and refine the vision of the life you want to surround yourself with.

The riding part varies from fun to thrilling. And there's the wrenching part, which can be frustrating at times (espeecially when its the Norton) but is ultimately satisfying.

"...Actually, BOTH games should be good." (HTheater)

Hey Vics, I've played a few lawn dart 'games' before until the superiors 'appointed' safety commission deemed them 'unsafe'. I know a (few) deaths were involved with that decision with that; however, the 'fun' of the game never leaves..like biking, for instance. Anyway, to make a long story short, was the above poll quote meant for anyone in particular? Perhaps your superior to save your arse? I was thankful for the 'spaceship' accommodations in VT, BTW, if I have to thank 'them' too for that, THANK YOU!

Also, I am free, thank you JESUS, are you? ..just saying.

Vicks, its good for many ailments but not for itself but from in or of itself..

I have got say it is a passion. I don't consider it athletic enough to be a sport, and for it is more than just a hobby or pass time. A simpe one or two hour ride is not enough to satisfy me. It is something that I love to do, and I even find excuses to do it. So for me it is more of a passion.

I voted Hobby. However it is a hobby I have a lot of passion for and some rides I would consider sport. If not just cruising it can be a fairly to intensive sport with skillful physical exertion requiring some physical endurance.

MOTORCYCLING IS A MEDITATION
You don't think on yesterday
You don't figure for tomorrow
You don't care about what they think or say
You don't wait for what's to follow

You just look into the next turn coming
You just feel the thrust beneath you
You just are there, no yearn or longing
You just are riding..... for the moment
