Finally got the bike it is beautiful has a ton of carbon fiber on it, but what is this ugly thing on the tank and can i take it off. Didn't get a chance to ride it yet but, it sure sounds like a beast.

Re: what is this?

It's an electrified mount for an sw motech tank bag

Mounts the tankbag to the bike while holding it off the paint.

If you don't want one, can be removed. Might need the oem screws to replace those you take out and will have to disconnect he wiring from the battery. It powers the tankbag.

Re: what is this?

Thanks for the quick responses ! I guess since it didn't come with the bag, i'll check into removing it. I hope it's not to much of a pain to unhook from the battery. Why would a bag need to be electrified?

Re: what is this?

I would leave it in place and get the bag. The SW - Motech bag is a great tank bag - you will really like it.

It's got a separate USB outlet and radar power. But,

Disregarding the bag has power - it is one of the best items I have on my K1300S. I put spare ear plugs - glasses - cell phone - owners manual - spare change - EZ Pass - house keys - registration and a boat load of other stuff in it - and it is not that big or obtrusive at all.

Ditto on Tank Bags! I got my 1st one, an Eclipse, in 1978 and have used them ever since.
