Off to deals gap in 2 weeks via the blue ridge parkway.

Re: Rosso 2's

Mike:

I don't have any experience with them. Like you I have always wanted maximum grip and was willing to give up mileage.

I just put a set of PR4's on my KS - I'm thinking this is going to be one of the better all around tires. I like to ride aggressive and could never get myself to put anything on other than sport tires. I just cooked a set of Q3's - the rear was done at 2.5K miles but I ran it for 3K miles.

Tire was great in dry conditions and the few times I rode in the rain it was okay.

The sport touring tires today are so good I have finally given into trying a set - they last longer - they are better in the rain and I'm thinking I will not have grip issues on the street with them. And in the cooler months they are better than sport tires that need heat to work correctly.

If I get 5K miles out them - and I mean 5K real miles not running them to the wear bars I will be thrilled and if they perform right up to that point then this rider will not be putting bubble gum back on the KS again.

Re: Rosso 2's

Hi Bruce,

I appreciate your feedback.

I've been considering the PR4's but I'm worried that the one time you need absolute stick and it might not be there. I'm also concerned the pr4's might be a bit slow on turn in.

Ps, the rosso 2's are about $100 cheaper per set around here so aide from the cost of mounting the set, even if they get 25 percent less mileage it's almost a wash cost wise.

Cheers.

Mike:

I've only put 40 miles on mine but I really didn't notice them being slow as far as turn in. In fact almost everytime I change tires they always feel fast because my old tires were worn and they were slow on turn in.

I know what you are saying and have felt the same way. My reason for trying them is this - I have ridden with several riders that have them and they were either ahead of me or right behind me and not once did any of them tell me they had any issues.

And I'm not talking about going out for a Sunday afternoon ride to see the sights.

Looking at the tire it sure looks like it will put down a contact patch that will handle just about all street riding.

Re: Rosso 2's

Arguably they must better than the stock m3's.

You are making a convincing case.

I would appreciate further updates as you put more miles on them.

Cheers.

Mike:

I did a little over 250 miles today and the PR4'S performed great. Only issue if an issue at all(because most tires do this)they wiggle a lot on tar snakes.

Re: Rosso 2's

So I put the rosso 2's on and spent a week on the blue ridge and deals gap. They are awesome tires bit the rear is quite shagged after 2500 kms, so no way I'll get 5000 kms like the pirelli rep said nor 5000 miles like some articles I read.

So what tire to use next us the question.......

For what it's worth, the BRP eats tires, no matter what they are. You might get better mileage on them on your normal riding loops.

Re: Rosso 2's

I've run three full sets of PR3s and a set of PR4, and the 4 is a great all-around tire for the S. I found that the front tire on PR3 wore faster than with other sets I've tried. I'm used to running two rears per front, but the PR3 front goes off sooner than the rear - different...

In warmer weather I prefer something softer, and wouldn't mind trying the Q3 or the PP3 - is 3000 to 3500 miles a reasonable expectation?
