K1300 with Puncturesafe - No TPS

Hi Guys,
testing the waters here on stuff you punt into tyres before you go out riding and get a puncture eg like Ultraseal...
Taking the plunge and going to Denmark and Norway for 2 weeks- dont want to be stuck with a flat up the side of a Norwegian Fjord.

I hear what people say about bikes with TPS on them - Didnt have that fitted on mine.
Was wondering what the consensus was within the forum on whether to or not.

Thanks
Tony

I don't use any of the sealants. I carry a tire repair kit and compressor.

Same here. Tire plug kit and bicycle pump. The tire sealants you put in the tire add weight which isn't desirable and make a mess when it is time to change the tire.

How do you know if you have a puncture if it autoseals it?

Re: K1300 with Puncturesafe - No TPS

I use Puncturesafe in my K1300s and it's fine, no issues. As for mess at tyre changes it is no big deal (unless you want it to be), totally waterbased and washes away with a hose, no problem at all.

If you get a puncture it shows as a blue dot on the tread.

There will always be those who are 'anti' puncture sealant, but I wouldn't want to go on a tour without it.

Tony

I don't use the sealant you put in the tyres but on every tour I take a can of the expanding foam with me. It got one of my group 20 miles to a garage one morning when we got down and found his front tyre completely flat.

Wouldn't tour without it.

I always take expanding foam on trips. Fortunately to date have not had to use it. But I have heard that if it is used it can affect the tyre pressure monitor on bike. I have K1300S with monitors.

HI Cedric

If you have TPM, transductor is inside the rim, is not convenient to use expanding foam, think the possibility to use REMA TIP-TOP. Is a useful kit that you can buy also as BMW part.

I used Ride-On for a while, never had any issues. But I didn't have TPM back then.
