Motor Oil - Petroleum Quality Institute of America

Another oil thread

Seriously, I wanted to start this OIL thread hoping that some might find it useful. I posted about the Petroleum Quality Institute of America - http://pqiamerica.com on a different thread here but didn't want it to get lost in that debate which was focused more on a current price increase.

Take it for what it was intended to be, a helpful tool when shopping for oil for your car/bike.

I will leave a teaser in saying that BIG $$$ doesn't always equal BIG PERFORMANCE. With the tests done and results on the site above, Walmart SuperTech brand scored almost the same and Royal Purple which many here used to have a hard-on for.

Re: Motor Oil - Petroleum Quality Institute of America

I looked at car Motor oil results, hence these comments
if I may
1- these results simply mean that most of the tested oils
are of «no concerns******», i-e, it will not «******break******» your engine, but it does not qualify it.
2-There are some funny names on that list, most likely blenders with unwanted quantity from years ago..
3-Bottom line: use well known supplier, read your manual and keep the rubber side down!
