Witnessed accident yesterday....

A pickup truck rear ended a sedan that was stopped at a light with several stopped vehicles in front of it.

The odd thing was that the truck laid on its horn before impact.

PS Driver in car jumped out and was not happy.

The pickup drivers got serious issues. Hopefully just failed brakes.I hope nobody got more than banged up from impact. Never saw a crash happening. Plenty of carnage though.

Re: Witnessed accident yesterday....

Just as likely failed brain as failed brakes.

Last fall I was on my bike, saw a minivan rear end a Subaru right in front of me. The Soob was waiting to turning left, the minivan driver was completely oblivious all the way to contact--it was about a second before impact that I realized he wasn't slowing or weaving to the right.

Made me absolutely cringe and duck in empathy for the driver in front. Nobody hurt apparently, but plastic carnage everywhere. Glad it wasn't me out front!

Re: Witnessed accident yesterday....

0430, on my way to work and at a stop light 200 yards from my house and on a major intersection with a through highway from my dinky farm road. Light goes green. I start to pull out for a left turn onto the highway and 5 feet into it a truck horn goes off and to my right a semi with a long trailer is on his horn at full speed. He obviously was not paying attention or expecting a light (rural and a long stretch of no cross roads). I'm thankful for the horn warning as it saved my life. I suspect he is thankful I stopped. Life has its paths.

Re: Witnessed accident yesterday....

Perhaps the driver of the pickup realized that his brakes wouldn't stop him, and the horn was to warn the car in front???

Use a warning device as a warning device? Nawww cmon!

So did the PU driver lay one the horn after impact? Or actually use to warn people?

Before impact.

Maybe a warning but maybe a demand to get out of the way.
