SGR 2018 9/4 to9/7 and 9/7 to 9/11

Basic info on the 2018 SGR Rally. Better late than never. Many made reservations last year but I've been asked to post this for those who may have forgotten the dates.

The 11th annual SGR Rally is just around the corner... and a sharp one at that! If you haven't ridden the Sierra passes... well... you owe it to yourself. SGR is the jewel of I-BMW gatherings. As always, we will have a pre-rally (simply an early beginning) in Downieville, and the rally in Markleeville... all I-BMW members are welcome to attend either one or both!!

In 2018, we will return to the Riverside Inn in Downieville for the pre-rally. We will check in at the Riverside Inn on Tuesday, September 4th, and check out on Friday, September 7th for our ride to Markleeville. Please call Ron at 530-289-1000 for your individual reservation, and you MUST identify yourself as part of the I-BMW group!!

Accommodations in Markleeville will be, once again, at the Creekside Lodge. Our check in date will be Friday, September 7th… check out date is estimated to be Tuesday, September 11th, but that can be determined individually when your reservation is made. Please call Jeannie or Todd at the Creekside Lodge, 530 694-2511, and once again, you MUST identify yourself as a member of the I-BMW group.

K-Flyer: Thank you for stepping up. Yes, the SGR is truly a great ride. I like the way the venues are split: First a feint to the north, to draw in the Luftwaffe er, CHP, then the main thrust into the south where they aren't looking.

Unfortunately, Beech and I won't be there this year. We'll be thinking about you guys, though. Maybe I'll get my GS-911 out, after about three G&T's, and attempt an autoscan and perhaps reset the service warning on my S1000XR, in honor of those who are there.

Hey, is the SGR still a go? Nobody seems to be talking about it. Just curious.

Yes, SGR is still on, Bobby... somewhat less "official" this time. I couldn't make it this year because I just bought a home and relocated to Show Low, Arizona. All the SGR core group had already made plans and reservations, but, as always, it is open to all, and all are welcome. Murray (K_Flyer) has stepped up to assist with details... there may still be rooms available for anyone interested. Information is posted above, or contact Murray for further details...

Yes, it is still on with a somewhat reduced number. I've been plagued with computer problems so have been using email with the participants I'm aware of. Also, Theresa will be doing some of the organizing and she is not on the forum. Since we are planning a barbecue one night in Downieville, we need to know how many are attending as Theresa and I are bringing meat, Kenn and Joyce and others are contributing as well. So, if you are coming, please PM me your email.

Well, best-laid plans..... I thought I was free that weekend but my time has been spoken for. Need I say more? The SGR is on the top of my list for next year. Have a great time and stay safe.

Re: SGR 2018 9/4 to9/7 and 9/7 to 9/11

To update plans for this SGR, I'm cutting and pasting key stuff from the email chain. Sorry if it is a bit disorganized.

Attendees so far are: Murray& Theresa, Kenn & Joyce, Bill, Peter, Ray, Rob & Linda, Victory, Erich (our cook last year) and Jim (new this year). That makes 12 . Theresa and I are bringing marinated tri-tip and chicken.Theresa reminded me that last year (?) we got a very nice salad from the pizza place.

Ron is the property manager at Riverside and has been helpful. He says he has some BBQ’s available, and phone numbers for restaurants that are still open. The “Two Rivers Café” Pizza place, if open everyday from 11am to 9pm. and the Mexican restaurant “La Cocina” is open Thurs – Mon 11am to 9pm. Jadaa’s Kitchen is “open when it is open otherwise it is closed.” Two Rivers Café said they could make a salad for 15 people, just let them know in advance. Murray and I can bring the marinated chicken and tri-tip from Swingles like we did last year.

Kenn (CookieMonster) and Joyce are bringing Napkins, paper towels, dish soap, steak knives (12+), heavy duty plastic cutlery sets, premium paper plates, paper bowls, hot/cold paper cups, aluminum foil and foil containers, and plastic bags.

Linda is making her famous broccoli salad.

Others have offered to help so Theresa and I will try to come up with a list of suggestions today or tomorrow.

The restaurant availability means that the BBQ will be on Wednesday. More later.

Simple, fly and hire a bike in San Francisco as we do 👍

Getting antsy to hit the road down to Beechers for new hoops early Sat. , home to try and get the bike packed and ready for an early departure Sun. . Heading for Estacada Or. first night and meet up with Victory , Ray , Eric , Ken , Joyce and another friend of Victory's . We'll have a good crew for the ride south to Downieville .

One day I will go again! And most likely take the route of Rob and Linda, fly and ride.

Hi Charlie- I am working in Phoenix and spend a fair amount of weekends here as well. I will have to ride out your way and buy you a beer!
