SC Project muffler S1000XR

SC Project emailed this morning informing me they will have a muffler for the S1000XR available by the end of Sept. Had one of their cans on my K13S and really liked it.

It would be sweeter than sweet if they have the carbon fiber one (like the K13S one I had) available for the XR!

Re: SC Project muffler S1000XR

They have nice designs for their applications. I don't particularly care for the stock can on that bike, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with. Keep us updated.

Re: SC Project muffler S1000XR

Akro has been teasing with talk of a black titanium/carbon fiber muffler that has apparently been just released on the market. Seems to have that shift pop too!

Says it only fits the 2015 S1000XR I wasn't aware there even WAS a 2015 XR but would have to believe it will fit the 2016 XR also....yes?

Nothing so far Joe.

I ordered a black titanium Akro muffler and S/S header system from MAX in CT, but after testing their demo XR with the full Ak yesterday decided to just go with the muffler and retain the stock pipes. There is a low speed roughness in 1st & 2nd with the XR....(very slight and nearly unnoticeable on my bike)....but very evident on the demo bike. Don't know if the roughness was worse on that bike before the pipes, re-flash & dyno tune or was made worse by the exhaust mod but didn't want to chance it on my XR. I also found the full AK to be too loud (the db killer was removed) and any tomfoolery on that bike could surely land one in the hoose-gow.
The power delivery on the demo bike was nothing short of amazing, off idle torque and acceleration was very reminiscent of my 185rwhp '09 VMax (complete with G force vertigo) and it wouldn't surprise me if that bike could break, or come very close to breaking, into the 9's on the track. And I was only in 'Road Mode'!

Re: SC Project muffler S1000XR

I finally bailed out on SC and went with the Akra.....comes thru BMW and supported by their warranty in case something goes haywire.

Also an R&G exhaust hanger, Evotech tail tidy & MRA shield.

Now just the long wait for spring............

I do love the SC project CF pipe I have on my K1300S. That Akra looks really nice too, but I've always felt like Akra pipes cost about double what they should... like they are really sticking it to you for their partnership with BMW.

Re: SC Project muffler S1000XR

MIVV have just developed and released some Slip Ons to the market. They are doing them at standard height to allow panniers and some at a "high" height to look good. And they do.

I have gone with a simple Carbon Oval, it will take a fortnight to be delivered from Italy and it cost £280 (~$402) including shipping to the UK. The Souno costs more but looks quite good, and is still a lot cheaper than the Akra.

All details here.

Can I ask what tail bag that is? Looks like it fits the rear seat perfectly.

Looks similar to a Nelson Rigg tank bag.

Danny - How happy are you with the Akrapovic? Have you run it without the DB killer? Is it louder better sounding than stock? Any update on your impressions would be great!

Re: SC Project muffler S1000XR

Well it looks like I will be the test case for this as I just ordered the low mount titanium can from https://www.sc-project.us/. It appears that this is SC Project has launched a company branded sales channel in the US that is operated by Motovation Accessories USA. Apparently they offer the exhaust in titanium or stainless steel black. In talking to the guys at SC-Project.US they said the SS version is significantly heavier so I ended up going the titanium route.

They gave me a 3-5 week lead time to get it from Italy. I'm in no hurry, so thats okay. Once it arrives I'll post pictures and sound clips.

Just my opinion, but I don't like it. Doesn't 'flow' with the lines of the bike...
