oooopps I made a mistake

recently I have been looking for a more comfortable riding position bike. I claim aging along with wrestling 1000lb animals (horse training) and 2000 lb animals (Long Horn Cattle) but I accept the possibility I am just wimpy. So I started looking at a more upright position. I read a lot of the reviews of the S1XR and made the mistake of going down to Houston and test riding one (brilliant bike!!!). Long story short in the next couple days I will be taking delivery of a Red 16 S1000XR premium with side bags top case and Nav V. Pictures to come shortly.

Karl, that's an excellent choice. You have the sit up and beg position and tons of power.

Congrats on the new ride. We'll be in Hunt in April and we'd be honored if you'd buzz us at a buck ten again (or was that a buck twenty?). Once we landed we were grinning like a mule eating briars.

No def not looking for a GS, Already have 2 tractors, and I am known to be fast in certain circles, but those guys usually ride rascals and spend their time looking for their teeth in the hallways of the local nursing home. In this crowd I am happy to just be in the middle of the pack.

Nice bike little buddy. I wanted to like the XR, I really did. But I just felt like I was sitting on top of the bike, not in it like I did with the KS and now with the GSA. But for a little guy like you it's probably perfect.

Great choice, Karl Looking forward to your impressions of it. My old body can no longer conform to crouch rocket standards. I was thinking a Ducati Monster 1200S this summer, But may consider a BMW again.

You may also want to look at the S1000R Ritchie. Another really nice bike. The Duc Multistrada is bad to the bone as well.

I just looked at and test rode a Monster 1200R.
Lots of deals right now all over the East Coast on leftovers.
There are some slight differences between the R and S, some in the motor, but others having to do with the frame and lean angle clearance.
The R was pretty awesome. Noticeable heat coming off the pipes in 60F weather. There was a mistake on the advertised pricing on the one I rode, so it's likely I will just wait until this time next year, or holdout for '18 to see if the ABS gets the lean angle feature and a quickshifter, both of which deserve to be on an R model, IMO. There is also talk of putting the Panigale motor in the '18. '17 is a duplicate of the '16 model.

The ergonomics were upright and I felt comfortable on it. A very, very nice bike for sure.

I remember the time I was fortunate enough to meet you all in Hunt. I think three bikes came by the place at a very impressive (and loud) clip. I know Karl was one of them. Maybe X was one. But when someone said JJ was the other I thought to myself, those slants must have a lot of power, a hell of a lot.

Yea, I was looking seriously at the XR, - or the F800GT, - or the R1200RS.
But then I am not old enough to go with the sit up and beg style yet.

Maybe in another few years.
But I hope you enjoy the new ride.
