K1200GT '04 not starting

Hi Team, after the brake bleeding yesterday can't get the bike to start. The battery has enough juice, no fuses in the fuse blocks are gone. When I switch the contact (key) the brake pump and fuel pump switch on, but pressing the starter button gets me a soft click instead of a roar....
Don't think we have disturbed any of the wiring and wouldn't expect both brake and fuel pumps to work if we had.

Any advise? I was wondering which lights should show in the dash when you put it on contact before you start as I can't remember the cooling water warning light showing, which it does now.

Cheers, Rene

Did you connect both grounds on the battery?

I didn't loosen any of the battery contacts.

Re: K1200GT '04 not starting

Oil, battery and water lights will be on when the ignition is switched on. Also the neutral light but, it can occur that while the the neutral light is on, the bike is in fact in gear, and therefore will not fire up. Not common, but it can happen so recheck that the tranny is in neutral. The other possibility is the side stand switch, well known to cause problems.
There are two earth wires connected to the battery. No exception. Easy to miss one, so recheck your work, it will be there...
To successfully (and correctly) bleed the ABS module you need to remove the battery for certain steps of the process.

Re: K1200GT '04 not starting

Thanks for the lights info. Although bike shows neutral I tried with clutch engaged as well, no luck. Didn't need to remove battery (to do it correctly :-) ), just pushed it over after removing the holding down plate. Been charging for a while and it gave a cough, so guess the battery is toast indeed.

Be sure to reset the "TPS" the throttle position sensor, with the key on, and the engine not running, roll the throttle full open to full close three times, don't let the throttle snap closed, simple. Then start the bike normally.

Not quite that simple Craig - after three twist and release of the throttle, turn the ignition off. Then turn ignition on and start. Just an oversight I think...

Did you find the second cable? Two ground cables on them bikes. One is a large (#8?) frame ground. The other is pretty well all the bike's brown grounds brought back to the battery.6-8 brown wires in the 16-18ga size all bundled together under the casing.
