F1

So, I had recently moved and ended up resurrecting memories of my irresponsible youth.
In this case and after an illustrious track/running career (to me, though my university paid for my education ), I shipped me and a bicycle to Roma, 1 way, @ 22 years of age to 'see the world' - and did I ever!

Part of the 1,900 mile journey on two bicycle wheels and 6 months living off the land replete with a few castles, pensiones and Apennines/Alps/Pyrenees star lit nights, was stumbling upon this, for which I was utterly unprepared.

What an experience - what a sound reverberating from the hills abutting the course.

After the race, I bicycled back to Marseilles, to hang with Arlette, the gorgeous, young & Riviera sun baked goddess caretaker (if ya like that kind of thing) of the Gothic hostel/castle looking out over the port of Marseilles who at that pre-internet time, I believe fell in love with and therefore spent another week with ....... She of course, was, in the the words of we guys, the one that got away.... I returned home from Gatwick UK, 15 pounds lighter, completely broke - biked home from Logan, but with a bucket full of life

Anyways, here's the pamphlet

Some names to conjure with on that start list, which was won by Alain Prost as I recall!

Anyway nice of you to share those memories!

Never mind that race, Arlette was the star attraction!
