German ABS Repair Shop - ships worldwide

My latest issue of Motorrad Magazin (1.9.2017, 19th issue, http://www.motorradonline.de/) has a good article on Motorcycle ABS Failure and Repair Services.

RH Electronics (https://rhelectronics.de) is one of the five Shops listed and there's an Interview with the Founder of this Shop, Rainer Hutterer. They're the market leader and have 25 years experience. They ship worldwide.

Rainer says Solder Joint Failures (Loetfehlern), Oxidized or bent Pins are common. He also says fine machined Check Valves become corroded, especially when there's moisture in the Brake Lines. Overall he says Moisture Contamination plays a central roll in ABS failures. He said the K1200S/R ABS Module is not well shielded from Water Spray from the Rear Tire (riding in rain). He said this results in corrosion and short circuits.

They rebuild their ABS Units with premium replacement components. He also cautioned against installing used ABS Units as "buying a Cat in a Sack" - negative connotation.

I looked up the Continental Teves unit Type AM03 (BMW Hardware No.: 7682002) specified for our K1200/K1300 Motorcycles (https://rhelectronics.de/produkt/type-am3/) and the cost is listed as 349 Euros ($420) plus shipping.

They also shared ABS Failure letters from Subscribers and curiously one notes that a failed Battery precipitated his ABS Module Failure on his K1200S. He's claims to be a person who is an "Elektroniker" meaning he's comfortable working on Electronic Systems. He thinks low Battery Voltage/Current caused the ABS Module to fail.

Re: German ABS Repair Shop - ships worldwide

My OEM battery on my 07 recently went south at the very same time I'm getting "brake failure" dash warning on my GSA ...coincident?

Not reading German does the website say that they repair units from the brick motor K bikes from model years '01 through '05? Mines still working but you never know. Thanks

Why not ask them ...perhaps use a translater to type your question(s) in english & convert to duetshman.german when asking

Re: German ABS Repair Shop - ships worldwide

For my k1200rs I bought a refurbished IABS module from RH Electronics. I'm really satisfied with their product. It saves you a lot of money compared with a new one. if you you need a translator from german to english for me it's not a problem to do the translation.

I checked the site and I didn't see any reference to the iABS 3 units.

Rather than learning German, just click on language English in the upper riaght hand corner of the home page. Makes life easier.

Yes they will repair your unit, or sell you a bypass unit to convert back to standard brakes and maintain speedometer function etc.
