Throttlemeister MIA?

2/10/19: Does anyone here live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who could make a drive-by and check and see if Throttlemeister is still open? I'm starting to worry about these guys..

I've been doing biz with them for almost 20 years and about 3 weeks ago.. they dropped off the map.. Their website has been down at least a week... Emails unanswered.. phone mailbox is full..

I've tried two browsers (Chrome and Firefox) and this is what I get when I go to their website at http://www.throttlemeister.com/ ..(below)

BTW.. Their parent company's website.. Marker Machine is up and operating, but i'm getting no answer from them either..

Re: Throttlemeister MIA?

Perhaps their resident IT staff dropped the ball on a payment or renewal of service to the Web hosting company? I doubt it as they'd be made well aware of this in a week or more though.

Re: Throttlemeister MIA?

If they closed for winter, it would be the first time in 20 years.. There's no mention of a seasonal close on their phone message..and they've not activated any sort of auto-response on their email...

Still hoping it's something innocuous like a long overdue vacation.. a birth in the family or minor jail time.. The fact that their website is still down doesn't bode well...

Another motorcycle aftermarket manufacturer bites the dust so is this Trumps's fault or still, Obama's as you have so frequently stated?

Me thinks steel tariffs likely didn't help any.

Maybe it is just one more indication that motorcycle ownership, ridership and participation is waning...

Rick, I think it has more to do with the fact their product has been outdated with all the ride by wire and cruise control on most new production bikes. Pretty simple I think.

Re: Throttlemeister MIA?

Golly gee gosh its sad when you have a beautifull made bit of hardware like that and you price it accordingly then cheap knockoffs and electronics ruin you.

But it could be any number of reasons that lead to this such as death of key ownership or even retirement assuming they worked in the field beyond the 20 ish years you bought from them.

We could do a crowd sourcing thing and make a bid but it looks like thats some high end gear that takes a long apprenticeship to master.

I was trying to be optimistic, not surprising their future got more bleak with each new bike released with a factory cruise.

Re: Throttlemeister MIA?

I'm hoping to hear from one of the 2 owners at some point.. I'd like some closure. Once they check in I'll post their response..

I spent part of today issuing refunds and notifying customers who'd already paid for product that their Throttlemeisters aren't coming. Not my favorite thing to do..

My guess is TM's demise has nothing to do with more modern bikes offering cruise.. They sold kits for hundreds of bikes and virtually every brand.. I could be wrong, but I doubt if 5% of the bikes rolling off showroom floors today have cruise on them..

My theory.. They are just wanting to retire after decades in the biz.

Jerry,

While I agree with you that there are still MANY bikes rolling off the line without factory cruise, I don't think that they are going out under their own terms. If I were looking to retire from a successful/profitable company, I'd be looking to SELL the company, not just disappear overnight.
