Marrakech Express

Hi All.

Got this bike last November, so this is my first season riding.

Have been active on the forum for six months and only now have had the time and good enough weather to post some pic's.

It's got 35K miles, and all-in-all very good shape. Just punched the Inspection II ticket, and has new brake pads front and rear. Running on PR3's.

FYI: This is rest stop on HW91 in northern Vermont.

Re: Marrakech Express

Haven't had the money or time to do everything I wanted in the off season, so stuck to the essentials. My only performance upgrade so far is fiber-wrapped headers.

Since there's no storage on these models, I opted for the good looking Tehnix seat bag (I don't like tank bags). Also needed GPS, and this one is mounted right over the knuckles on the left handlebar. Also installed LED gauge lights, which provide excellent visibility at night. (Note: If you look closely you'll notice parking lot mirrors on the tips of the signal pods. The one problem with handlebar mounted mirrors is when you crank the wheel to back up into a parking space you can't see behind you. The parking lot mirrors are fairly unobtrusive, but extremely useful.)

Re: Marrakech Express

I went with the short smoked Tehnix wind screen and smoked signal lenses up front. Couldn't fine the exact 21w yellow bulb, so am using 28w instead. But, the lamps are only for flashing, so don't expect any trouble with them.

The rear indicators are all stock. I did, however, get the much coveted "00" license plate number.

(Note: Am using a 3D black carbon fiber cutout for the faux inlet. This has a shiny appearance and looks like something is going on when in fact it's just a cover.)

Re: Marrakech Express

Here is a final look with the windscreen up in the freeway travelling position. I'm also running with HID headlight, which came highly recommended and I am very pleased with.

By this time next year I hope to have a set of saddle bags, but right now I'm enjoying the look of the bike without.

Re: Marrakech Express

Definitely like the looks of the windscreen - sweet.

Now go out and ride the wheels off the thing - and post a ride report so we can see your neck of the woods.

AJ:

You are so close to the SSR like Jargon asked - you should try and make the SSR next month.

Re: Marrakech Express

Not even broken in yet! Best color though I'm biased

If you've not considered it s yet and as it's likely that girl's been sitting around for years based on that mileage, you'll want to replace/ perform:

Tires if older than 8 years (incredible advancement in tire technology over the K's early years)
Fuel filter
Plugs
All fluids
Battery
Brake fluid flush
Inspect front dampner (they leak/ fail often)
More..... will let others chime in

I do apologize, the former host of my web page went under and so the links above don't work anymore. Also, somehow I'm not able to edit the post, so I'll re-post the images through Imagur in links as follows:
