I might just have done a little too much at the Grand PRE... And going to the SSR wasn't in the body's best interest...
Anywhose I had the best Bday party in awhile!
I was hurting all day steady from the moment I got up on Friday so I took another rest day in the lake.

Thanks to all that came to the Grand PRE/Bday party. Some of you came from far away! Florida, Indiana, Sudbury On and all over.

Hats off to all of you!

Cheers

Re: Screwed up...

Thank you Louis .... For putting the Pre on and making me a great breakfast. Sorry I got there a bit late but it was still great to see you again . The route you made for me to the boarder was a great ride.

Thanks for the hospitality Louis. Great spending time with you.
Next year we'll ride, but it may be on the left coast.

That time spent together was lopsided in my favor... AND to those who slept in the second house that night.

Thanks again bud for your invaluable help.

Re: Screwed up...

After a week on the cane, no crutches, I was thinking that I was progressing nicely... till I fell down the stairs a couple of times last week. Not good...
Served as a warning. The right leg seems fine but sometimes it just fails.
Haven't hurt myself but now I'm more careful.

That's where I am.

Cheers

Re: Screwed up...

Maybe time for an update. Maybe not...

Still walking with a cane after more than two weeks now ...
Still doing the baby steps...
Still no perceptible sign of improvement...
Still not out of the woods yet...

Oh well, let's see what another week will bring.

Cheers

Can't even make it to the MOA less than 600 miles away...
And who would be stoopid enough to sit around all day with me keeping me company waiting for the hooligans to get back from their excellent romp through the Rockies!

Thanks for the invite anyhow bud. Maybe another year.
Or maybe the year after when you make it to the Grand PRE!

I have been swimming (and running in the water chest high) but I haven't gotten any marked results...
That's why I decided to add cycling to my workout.
Plus I have taken on quite a bit of weight...
Need to fit in my pants again...

Going cycling!

Thanks bud

Seems that Google translate needs some improvements...
Nothing serious however, any CIA agent would find right away

Reminds me of the group dinner at KENTUCKY rally 5 years ago, 10 Americans (And à lone Canuck) sitting at the same round table, explaining how different was plain english from South to north And from east to west...

Re: Screwed up...

Yesterday was wasted.
Too much to do.
Got no exercise in...

Drove three and a half hours for another one of my daughter's B'day last night in Montreal, yes by car but convertible, 90+degrees, and afterward I stopped by to see Mahteen. Spent the better part of the evening drinking excellent cognac and going over the artwork of his deceased brother. Cool stuff.
I picked up a few. I'll post some pics when I get'em up.

Got home at two am and wasn't sure how I would fare walking up them 39 steps. I'll have to do something with them steps...
Yeah, get well!
Too much time spent sitting in the car.

And then I had to get upstairs in my bedroom....

Slept well!

Will go out on a bike ride now!

Cheers

Re: Screwed up...

All was set to go when life got in the way...

The mother in law needed a favour and it included the use of a car...

When I got back, I had to go for a bicycle ride so that I can keep working at it.

Couldn't put too much into it cause that morning, the dentist had decided to pull what was left of a wisdom tooth. The crown came off with a simple tug barehanded!

So I'm sitting at the table looking at the protein shake I made myself for supper when the phone rings and a friend of mine asks if he can come for a visit.

At the cottage! (that's two hours away)

Dressed and went!

The bike started up on the first try.

Here we go!

I'll be back...

Re: Screwed up...

Took a while but here I go.

That first ride into the sunset was a good one. Still there was some incomfort...

Didn't like the apprehension I felt in the first few sporty curves I took.
I was more in a cruiser mode...
The ride to the cottage took about two hours, 15-20 minutes more than the usual.
At a roundabout where I usually go around at least once or twice, trying to drag the pegs just for the fun of it, I passed... I was out of my comfort zone...
When I finally got off the bike, I had a hard time walking... I hurt all over.
Those 37 steps seemed like when I climbed Kala Pattar just to get a better view of Everest.

I've been back on the bike since, but I've kept it under an hour. Still stiff getting off.
A lot less apprehensive but staying on the cautious side.
I'm enjoying it though, shit eating grin from ear to ear!

Cheers

Louis, try 8-10k mg of fish oil daily...one of its benefits is that it's a natural anti inflammatory and it won't kill your liver like ibuprofen...it also seems to make my tendons and muscles more 'elastic', giving me less stiffness. This stuff really helps me with my rheumatoid arthritis.

You can't overdose on fish oil, your body will just eliminate the excess. Try it for a week, 1/2 dose in the morning, half at night...if you don't feel anything by then, then don't buy another bottle. Try to buy northern pacific or northern Atlantic oil...Costco.com online. Do you have Costco in Canada?

Riding again?

Coincidentally as I was reading that at 06.00 AM.....you should have seen the size of the cougar that wandered up and walked right by the shed. So I hauled the yellow "cougar bait" out and went for a ride carefully avoiding the huge piles of bear shit on the road.Wouldn't want to dirty that bike yet.

Happy BC day!

Do we have animal smilies on here? Nope a real one....big/yellow pelt/4 legs and a rather long tail.

Too much yellow in that shed, she glanced inside but no snacks for her the mouse trap was empty.

Re: Screwed up... a ride report!

Both grand-kids were invited to supper by their little friends last night.

I don't get too much alone time these days... I have'em for 7 out of the 9 weeks of summer! I ain't complaining, it's a blast!

What to do? 90 minutes all to myself...

I immediately hopped on the bike and went for a ride on the twisty little road around lake Mempremagog.

Stopped at the general store in Georgeville

(don't know why selfies reverse the pic???)

Then went to the marina

The view from there is outstanding. That's the USA that we see on the other side of the 25 mile long lake that straddles the border of Quebec and Vermont.

On the other side of the lens their was also another outstanding view... and I ain't referring to that same lakeview the guests at the terrace of the inn see!

Love the view to the engine bay!

I got home a little late, (had to tank up...)

Fortunately, the kids weren't back yet so I was none for the worse!

Got off the bike and I'm real sore... also the legs are still not strong enuf to stand easily on the pegs...that's the only drawback to this ride.

Man, that was only 100 miles or so...
Crawled up them 37 steps and sat down in front of a nice cold one....

That's it for today!

This post was written somewhat better earlier... just before windows shut down and rebooted itself with some updates... I didn't see it coming... I hate that!!!

Re: Screwed up...

Went out for over six hours riding over the course of the weekend. Never managed to do more than two hours straight...
But I am getting back into the groove!
I'm starting to trust my instincts more and the pace has picked up!

Things are looking up!

Cheers
