As this whole drama unfolded regarding the demise of this bike, there have rumors 'from the inside' mentioned by a couple members here, covering both the demise and succession of the model. The Motorsport, being all farkled out, surely is the last, finally, and someone on 'the inside' has to be wrong , eh Mat?

The new Kawasaki is just evidence there are people 'on the inside' who don't think the sport Touring segment is kaput.

Not having a go at all at the multi bike owners, I'm jealous as hell, but for some of us, it's only one bike, whether it's parking space, initial outlay of $$$, or trying to insure and register 2 or more bikes. Our choice of bike has to be very specific to our needs.
My Needs.... supersonic bullet that I can tour on, thats comfortable, with almost every option, that goes around corners better than a ZX14 or Hyabudda. Not much to ask!
So bring on a 4,5 or 6 cylinder 1200cc or bigger bike with everything. With a seat low enough for the short-asses, and enough torque to drag us fat pricks to the redline with the rear wheel squirming, and the front wheel dancing. Keep our beloved suspension the same..... One bike for everything.

Re: 1300s replacement?

Same suspension, new aesthetics, new tranny, same electronics as the S1KRR with TFT dash, bump the HP to 190...LED lighting, drop some weight...

That would work.

Re: 1300s replacement?

I found the perfect replacement for my 2013 K1300S. I bought a 2015 K1300S HP. I'm keeping the 2013 for now.

I'll probably sell my Flat Track Racer replica Sportster just to keep the peace around here.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all

Re: 1300s replacement?

using
http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/...html&notrack=1
and
http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/...html&notrack=1

We see the S1000XR has longer leg room, is taller and wider, but shorter. Ride position is markedly more upright. This works for some, not for others.

Could it be?

Did anyone go? Any interesting news to report?

For those interested in EV cycles, the October issue of "Road Runner" magazine has an article by a guy making a long trip (in short segments). I got the impression that he has no plan as to how to get across Nevada or Utah with his 88 mile range. But he has time to enjoy the ride with a speed of 55 mph.

You are right though, they limit the Tesla to 155 so quicker, not faster.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...fast-list.html

I can see a common thread here, people are so used to sitting or standing at a gas station they think charging is like that. Consider months of gas station time vs charging at home. For everyone? Probably not, not everyone has a home they can charge at. Charging is a time saver.
On trips? If you iron butt long miles, electric is slower. If you stop and eat, see the sites, and plan, charging is faster (as far as wasted time). "Same amount of time to fill my gas tank" is not how it works. But you do have to do "That Supercharger has a Denny's, Burger King and Sizzler, lets skip it and hit the one next to Red Robin."

My solar panels pay back in just over ten years. Car charging included.

My car was HUGE dollars - or cCHEAP depending if you compare a Prius or AMG S65. I looked at the AMG and I paid 50K less to go faster, much cheaper TCO and longer guarantee, 100K vs 50K miles. Ride and handling are close enough not to matter, and Tesla wins on the tech hands down.
https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehic...AEgJMk vD_BwE

500 miles is an easy day drive for Nicki (my car). Our typical drive to LA is like that, start out early, brunch/charge at Anderson's Split Pea Soup. No time lost as she is ready before we are. 750 miles is not as good, two charges at 30 - 40 mins, I won't be hungry probably for the second charge. I travel 80 - 85 MPH.

I have yet to pay for charging. Free charging comes with the car, most hotels, many restaurants and solar at home.

I bought a car like I did my bike, for 90% use. Occasional use does not mean much to me for a purchase. Better to rent for those rare trips. YMMV
Just curious... does the gov't. subsidize Tesla? When you charge your car at these charging stations I see in parking lots, do you have to pay to use them?

Re: 1300s replacement?

Easy answer is no, I do not pay to use Tesla brand Super Chargers.

The privately owned ones I would have to pay for, but it's like $4.00 to "fill up".

Does the government pay for charging? Not directly.

It is a little mind bending driving a stock car that does 0-60 faster than any stock bike.

Re: 1300s replacement?

I only said "not directly" as the situation is so complicated. I have read a LOT on this and yes, Tesla does get subsidies. So does Nissan, Toyota, GM and the failed electric car makers like Fisker. And all the oil companies https://www.theguardian.com/environm...-5-tn-per-year

Subsidizing clean air solutions is to gain votes, subsidizing fossil fuel solutions is about lobbying. They all get government money. But what is your point?

My point is a lot of these electric car companies, solar companies, wind, etc... are political agenda driven and these companies would not succeed without government money. If you want to drive an electric car or motorcycle that is cool with me. I just happen to like the sound of the old fashion fossil fuel vehicles.

Re: 1300s replacement?

Me too, so I will keep my K1300s MS.
But for my car the sound cannot make up for the lack or performance. There are times I miss the growl, but a silent car is best for me. Maybe the BMW i8? It plays a V8 sound through speakers on acceleration.

And Oil companies would not be where they are now without subsidies. All part of politics.
