Re: Rate Yourself.....

I'm 24, have around 30,000 miles under my belt and have had 2 bikes. Mostly commuting miles, I'd consider myself a pretty adept rider, like a 7/10.

Re: Rate Yourself.....

Seem's like some days are better then other's , was out this afternoon and had NO idea or where the hell I slight bit on the chilly side with a mesh jacket and short sleeve shirt on, but all and all had fun. I know I was out in now where land stopped twice and no cell signal, dam you AT&T ;-).

Re: Rate Yourself.....

Started riding at 17 on an (opportunistic) '72 H1 B. Convinced my parents to loan me the money (to supplement my burger income) to put oversize pistons & Wirges pipes to "improve the fuel economy" (my old man wasnt buying it!). Sold it for Uni, then bought an 83 Katana 750 (the real deal, stylewise at least) with 3000 cm (canada miles) on it. Sold it at 40K km, when I bought an 88 ZX-10; spectacular bike that I never got close to using to its potential.

Sold it (first kid), and then bought an 88 FJ-1200 (best fun-for-the-buck, and first intro to online forums; great crew there too). Replaced that with a super low miles Bandit 1200. Lotsa fun, but not a good platform to invest in, kinda low-budget all around.

Replaced the Bandit with a low miles (trend here?) 2003 Blackbird... made the Bandit look like a wind-up toy! Fixed the seat, raised the bars, but still a tad low for my aging frame... got tired of Tylenol & A535 stick on patches before every ride.

Sat on a K1200S at a bike show, it hit all the right points (seat-bar-pegs near perfect for me). The search was on. Found a super low-miles 2010 Tri-Colour K13 in Texas (ebay) with tons of goodies, including 2D display. Fantastic experience buying it from the guy (his knees were just enough older than mine to fall out of love with the K13). Had it shipped to BMW Detroit (great guys there cleaned it up and put it in the showroom and I got to drive it out the front door! Bars raised, pegs lowered, and now Beecher's risers installed... even closer to the perfect sport-tourer.

So 7 bikes, 35 years riding, 150,000 bike miles, and one track school (way back on the 83 Katana).

...and that'
s all I have to say about that.

Re: Rate Yourself.....

Hi
Been riding since 1967.
Started on a 350 SL Honda.
Always have a bike around.
Here in N. Georgia, it is almost a sin NOT to have a "corner carver" (currently R6).
But, close to 62 now, and looking for a more gentlemanly ride... ergo... K13S..

see ya
bill

I try to ride the best that I can be at all times without any loss of concentration or focus. I ride to the limit with consideration for putting the fear in other drivers on the road. I try to ride smooth and not vary my speed so as to draw attention to my riding. I ride aggressively to out maneuver potential threats that I encounter. I've enjoyed riding with all riders. I particularly like riding with riders on the same model bike so as to compare my abilities. Although riding with a group I never loose sight that riding is from within myself and my abilities.
Now here's someone that brings back memories.. What ever happen to Island Tony?

Re: Rate Yourself.....

Hi guys. Still here and still riding in the same old way. I sold my BMW a couple years ago. At this stage I still put about 10,000-12,000 miles a year on my 2016 Harley Road King. I must admit that its hard to find riders that ride according to my stated objectives, especially Harley riders. Oh well guys, keep trying. Some of you remember I got re-married to Lili. You may recall that we didn't have issue keeping the pace, even with most one up riders. If any are in South Florida. Send me an email and we'll go for a ride. Thanks for the memories. Clay, I remember the Finger Lakes Rally. Fun. Not sure about the first wife being there. You know what they say about memory as you age. Maybe Long Island Ralph or Vic's can recall. Anyway the second wife has more high speed aptitude.

I can personally attest to the two up being more formidable than that of most single riders (not me however ). Great to see ya here Tony... Miss you guys...

Yes, you and wife #1 were both there Tony. You were turning 60. That was a very fun weekend! Even had a blast with Shiva
