How to start a K1200/1300 with a GS-911 after it sat too long and fuel went bad

So my K1300S has sat for way too long. When I went to ride it on Monday,it would not start. It cranked fine thanks to the EarthX battery, but there were no explosions. I added some fresh fuel and chevron Techron. Still nothing. So I broke out the GS-911. No codes. So I used the service function and activated the fuel pump to pressurize the system and then each injector. After that the bike started instantly. The injectors cycled noticeably slow initially and then increased to the normal rate. So I saved an expensive trip to a shop or a very tedious tear down. I am going to replace the fuel filter. Donít know where it is, but itís probably the most difficult to access location.

Great job, between the vapor lock and gunk, more than likely gunk, you found a good solution. There is no filter, just a fine mesh strainer. Run the Techron Plus through it a couple of tanks worth. See if you can find locally some ethanol free gas. Leaving a bike for more than a a couple of months with the 10% ethanol fuel is not so good.

Yeah, thatís the real problem, not riding it. That and I donít remember if I put any preservative in the fuel before I parked it. I really need to move somewhere more conducive to riding regularly. New Jersey is not such a place.

It sat from September of last year till April/May. Then I rode it a few times. It took fresh fuel and some Techron to get it running. Then it sat from then until Monday. Like I said way too long.

It's not unusual for ours to sit from Late October to early April.

Starting late October when I fuel the bikes after a ride I add Stabil.

Never really know when the last ride of the season will be, so I get in the habit of adding stabilizer in October.
Seems like last year I rode up until late November.

Stabil uber alles. I go from oct 1st ish to mis april 0 problems. In warm weather it does not hurt to fire the eninge up to move some fuel throught he lines as well.
I need a new keyboard.
