Re: SPOILER - Phillip Island MotoGP

Weird race. never seen some many bike and brands so closely matched in motogp.
What was Marquez looking at behind him early during the race? Dovi?

Valentino running inside lines early in the race. A mistake early.

Marquez ran his front tire all over Rossi! Then Zarco cut right across the front of Rossi making contact. I'm glad Rossi kept a level head and brought it home. But what is this? Nascar? Vinales had contact with Ianonne and Zaro too.

Zarco, he is the maniac. That tech 3 front end worked amazingly. Ultimate confidence. Passing outside of turn 1 on Vinales late in the race??? Deserved a podium today.

Ianonne is an idiot.

Congrats to Miller. Great race.

Can't believe MotoGP signed a 5-year contract with Michelin. Need competition and turnover in tire suppliers to advance technology.

All good races today but the finale was like watching another Moto3 race. One of the most exciting races of the year no doubt. I don't know that I fault any rider in that front pack - all hard racing right on the edge. Any racing at this level of the premier class where multiple riders end up with rubber from a competitor on their leathers is farkin' unbelievable - give us more of that!

I'll freely admit that I've had a hard time warming up to Marquez after that messed up season a few years ago that cost Rossi his shot at the championship. But to boo him as he takes the podium should be an embarrassment to the Aussie racing fans. MM's talent is completely and utterly undeniable and he seems to have matured significantly. In a race with so many top riders laying it all on the line, he just checks out and runs away for the win. Give the man his due.

Maybe. The manufacturer also should be willing to invest more to advance the tire technology if they know they've got the contract for a few years and not just making the investment to loose it to another in a year or two. Does anyone know how this works in terms of the business deal for Michelin. Do they get paid for the tires and support or do they get little/nothing financially and do it in exchange for all the advertising and brand placement they get?

Canít fault your theory the realty was a world away when their was more than one tyre supplier because there was then a pecking order in who got the best tyres Rossi would practice on a Friday and Michelin would produce new tyres over night based on the data supplied and Dunlop something similar but not everyone got them and tyre manufacturers had the power of life and death about who got what.

So the next guys down got the B tyre and the rest got production stuff so the reality of your theory it was grossly unfair and hence the solus tyre supplier so everyone gets the same and if nothing else it is fair.

Although talk to some guys in WSB about Pirelliís and certain people in the past never got a dud

+1... couldn't agree more...

There are a few of them that are bringing a megapixel focus on the line between "racing" and "barging." To me, if a rider being charged upon has to pick up his bike to make room for the aggressor (or else crash), it's over the line...

Amazing to watch. That's why I love bike racing!

Packing my bags for my end of year holiday to Sepang right now. If it is half as good it will be worth the trip. Looking like MM will wrap the title up there.

He was asked this after the race, and he said he told his pit crew not to put anything about Dovi on his pit board so he could concentrate on the race, then after a few laps he wondered where he was

Despite is huge talent the reality heís still a kid,itís interesting to watch the mechanics of the family while in Europe dad still drives the motor home for the two brothers younger brother benefits as only Moto GP riders are allowed such in the paddock.

Sounds like Scott Redding got the silent treatment from Ducati after passing Dovi on the last corner.

Then Redding basically giving Ducati the big middle finger in response.

I've always kinda liked Redding. Talent seems to be there but he hasn't gotten the breaks.

Maybe next year with Aprilia???

Re: SPOILER - Phillip Island MotoGP

It was a really exiting race to watch. MotoGP is just so much better than anything else and it is great that they brought the real competition back.

Our local boy, Brad Binder who is the current moto3 champ but riding in moto 2 this year finally made it to the podium. Exiting competition ahead also in moto2.

I also liked the 9 and 10 positions of Bradly Smith and Pol Espargo on the KTM's. They said they are going to be the champs in 5 years. A good start.

Still love my KTM SAS. Think the will finally launch them in the US next year!
It's offroad brother the 1290 R is the bike of the year in South Africa and it had very stiff competition with all the new bikes from most of the manufacturers.

Re: SPOILER - Phillip Island MotoGP

That was a great race, to see Rossi on the post race interview with a big black stripe on his left shoulder and down his left side from Marquez's tire was wild. And I loved Rossi's post race quote,

"I enjoyed the race very much. This track is unbelievable and it was a great race! All the riders in front were very aggressive, so you need to be more Ďstupidí, more aggressive, than they are."

Between the wet Motegi race, and this Phillip Island race were too of the best of recent memory.

Seems to me that while I'm not a big Marquez fan, his talent is undeniable, and I don't understand why he's being booed, maybe its like hating the Yankees.

Re: SPOILER - Phillip Island MotoGP

I'm disappointed to hear of the "boos" aimed at Mark Marquez, too...I guess it's just human nature for some to instinctively dislike a dominant competitor - it reminds me of how Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods were sometimes treated by fans (though their own words sometimes made the criticism understandable.)

MM is (at least) a generational talent, and I never cease to marvel at the knife-edge of control he always seems to occupy. Like Tiger, his competition has had to get better to beat him - he's raised the bar for everyone...

Re: SPOILER - Phillip Island MotoGP

I dont need to tell everyone here, but

Marquez has 3 motogp championships and is about to capture his fourth.
He has two world championships in lesser classes moto2 and 125cc.

This guy is a stud that is gonna rewrite the record books.

Where did Pedrosa finish this weekend?

Let the idiots boo. As long as Marquez can keep his edge and continue to ride.

More to the point, the people that should feel embarrassed, are the Rossi fans.
