Traded in my beloved K1300S

Although I haven't posted often, you all have provided a wealth of information (especially Beech) over the past 6 years. I've spent hours (and way too much money -thanks to the classified section) on here.
I traded my '09 K1300S with just over 42K miles on it last month. Before handing it over to the dealer, I put it back in the same condition it was in when I bought it.
As a result, I have just about every sought-out accessory for this bike that I will be posting this weekend in the classified section.
To give you an idea, I have the HP rear-sets, luggage rack, BMW center stand, even a K1300R steering bridge!
I even have the factory tool kit for adjusting the valves - never used!
Please stay tuned...

Cheers! John

Re: Traded in my beloved K1300S

Well, a lot of years riding a great friend, a great bike. Hope you are not leaving the moto world. I have been riding a S bike most of the Summer, just took the K out last week for a few days and realized what a wonderful bike it really is, even at ten years old.

What will you be riding? At 40,000 miles in 9 years, you were using the bike sparingly...

Or is it "that's all folks" ?

Re: Traded in my beloved K1300S

Oh no, I'm not folding up my tent just yet. I had three bikes that I divided my riding among, but the K1300S was my favorite and most frequently ridden.
I rode the K1300 to Roanoke, VA in August to participate in RoadRUNNER Magazine's 13th annual Touring Weekend. It was during this trip that I decided to get a bike that was better suited (for me) to tour with.
I accompanied Alain Labadie, RoadRUNNER magazine contributing author and IBA member back to Vermont. Over breakfast the 2nd day on the road (after riding 14 hours the previous day) I said to Alain, "I know that a Honda Goldwing is your first choice for long distance riding; what would be your second choice?" He said, "a BMW R1200GS. BMW Canada provided me with one for a long-term road test and I put 22,000 kilometers on the bike. It was just phenomenal. That dynamic suspension was like it was reading my mind - firming up in the curves and softening in the straight-ways. I believe that's going to be my next motorcycle."
So, upon returning home I demo-ed the S1000XR, a R1200RT and the R1200GS. I had ridden the RT when it first went to liquid cooled. I didn't care for it then and still wasn't willing to trade the K1300 for an RT. However, I was really surprised when the S1000XR didn't resonate with me either. But surprisingly, I did like the GS - a lot. So, I ended up going over to the dark side.

Nothing wrong with that. I quite like my GSA but not enough to sell my K13 to buy it.

Re: Traded in my beloved K1300S

Let's get something straight here. Getting a K bike was considered going to the dark side by the traditionalists. So, getting a GS would be going toward the light or going to the light side.

What he said. So, WTF, exactly, did you get? Oh, and for the record, there ain't much out there that would make me part ways with my bumblebee.

Re: Traded in my beloved K1300S

Valid point Rick. My remark was based on some of the threads on this forum regarding GSs. I really did appreciate my K1300S but economics and space restrictions in my garage were the drivers behind my trading it in.
