Helmet headset Poll

Anyone know of any helmet headset polls?

If there is one I would like to find it?

If there is not- I would like to start one with a few words.

What brand is yours?
In five words what is the like
In five words what is the dislike
In one word, recomend or not.
What type of muffler you have in one word, Stock or Custom.

Keep simple and clear.

No headsets allowed in my helmet.

When riding, focus needs to be on riding.

Old school too. Baehr Verso XL. Have now had it for over six years and it just went on to it's third bike. Works great.

Re: Helmet headset Poll

Cardo Scala Rider Q2

I have a love-hate relationship. It's a fiddly little thing, but it does work well and the battery lasts as long as advertised in it's literature. The FM radio is a godsend for local riding in my opinion, but it is a dangerous pain in the butt to scan for new stations. That is where the hate comes in. Also, I am still sore at them for not more thoroughly explaining the limitations of the blue-tooth before I bought it. It's for phone only, not music. Not mentioned ANYWHERE. Also, mono only. Junk. Quite costly, too.

It has an intercom, but that isn't why I bought it. I have used it a time or two, with another rider that had the same brand, and it works well.

I understand that they have changed much of this in newer generations. Too late. I'm too sore at them to purchase another product from them.

Re: Helmet headset Poll

Scala Team-set

Used as intercom when riding 2 up.

Requires a certain amount of background noise to work well.

In other words, if you're stopped and there is no wind or other background noise, it is hard to activate.

Has blue tooth capability but have not used this.

Sena SM10 modified with moulded ear plugs.
Works with everything.
Great sound.
Best around currently in my opinion.

Schuberth SRC system for my new C3 Carbon.
++ -> invisible
-- -> expensive (but so is the C3 Carbon).
Same specs as the Cardo G4 but shorter comm range.
I like the integrated RDS radio.

Re: Helmet headset Poll

Sena S10 with original speakers.

Like: sound is very good, loud enough when driving fast even if wearing earplugs. Connects well with Blackberry, easy to answer phone and easy to change tune wireless.

Dislike: a BEEP I have not been able to identify why it beeps when I turn my head to the left. Likely a button touching my jacket but still investigating.

Autocom with BigEar custom molded earspeakers. BUENO!

Attenuates most wind and road noise. NOTE: With the use of such in ear products, you must have your head on a swivel. You will likely see stupid people.

Autocom with stock headsets and Freetalk FRS for both. Not much chatter, more for "pit stop required"

Cool Re: Helmet headset Poll

I use a Scala 4 for bluetooth for telephone and bike to bike communication but I use panasonic micro-buds connected to a 6th generation Apple Nano(with watch band) for music and FM radio.

It lasts 25 hours per charge and has an FM radio. The cord from my micro-buds headset goes down my jacket arm to the Nano/watch. This gives perfect music and I can still hear the telephone.

Even at 80 mph people can hear me perfectly. I only do this during working hours when I am out riding which I hope to do soon if we ever get good weather again.

I really do this mainly when on long rural rides. I just love music as it makes my motor so much smoother.

Ride more golf less.

Scala Rider G4 Powerset for my girlfriend and I. I just bought it 1 month ago and it works great for what i need. I use my Iphone with it for music and phone and the VOX has worked great for the intercom for the girlfriend and I. I have'nt tried it with another rider yet but that wasn't the main reason I bought it.

Re: Helmet headset Poll

Scala Rider G4 on the K12 and GSA. Had the audio kit (mounting bracket) converted to a 3.5mm jack by Marilyn at plugup.com. I use 'S' plug headphones which give good sound and block the wind noise somewhat when not used for conversation or music. I'm connected through a BMW Nav 4 to my phone. Conversations and music are clear but could use a tiny bit more bass on the music. Very happy with it. Recommended. The only thing I don't like is I can't voice dial with my phone right from the G4. Most likely it's the phone/GPS connection. I can charge the G4 on the fly from my tankbag but I get an electronic hum when I do. It's not too much of an issue because the charge usually lasts all day. On the 1000 I use a Q2 pro connected right to the phone because the Nav 4 doesn't go on that bike and it's easier to just have a separate unit. It seems to voice dial okay though.

Re: Helmet headset Poll

My SH10 is 6 years old now and I had one issue. The weakest link on this product is the small plastic clip that holds the transmitter on the helmet clip. I contacted Sena and they don't have service... or parts. Only suggestion was to buy a new device !!!
So I repaired with a simple steel washer and it works great.

And I do agree with Pirate in most of his comment. I do need the help of a GPS but I find more distracting to look at it than listen to it. My iPhone will give me directions and I can ask it to prepare and itinirary quite fast. Talking on the phone is not often and I will allow it only on a predictable road, like a not so crowded highway, and not for long.
And after all these years, I still don't understand how to post an image from the galery.
