R1600C cruiser concept

R1600C cruiser concept

.... im not a cruiser man, i reakon it looks cool, in a minimalist sort of way, but the idea of a flat 1600cc twin is very interesting.... still be great to blow off a harley on this.. blurb below

IF there’s a notable absence in BMW’s broad range of bikes, it’s probably of a cruiser.
It’s a market other bike makers are exploiting with an ever-more diverse range of machines, from Ducati’s XDiavel to Triumph’s Bobber.
So maybe it’s time BMW brought us a successor to its R1200C, the cruiser it made until 2005.
BMW accessories specialist Wunderlich thinks so, but with a 1600cc boxer engine replacing the 1200.
The German accessories firm has gone to the trouble of producing these concept pictures to show us what the R1600C might look like.
With Wunderlich’s likely insider knowledge, it could even be a clue that something is on the way from BMW.
Wunderlich said in a press release: ‘A model has been hanging in the air for a while now that for many has embodied the American style of riding BMWs and which fans and insiders have longed for: The successor to the BMW R 1200 C. However: No news from Munich!
‘That’s why together with our designer Nicolas Petit, we’ve given a lot of thought to the topic.
‘The result is a brilliant, timely interpretation of the R 1200 C with red-hot technical features and innovative, refined design details. Even while standing it’s an ambitious riding machine that radiates power and sovereignty! Fired up by a 1600 cc flat twin! A consequently refined, independent cruiser that carries the genes of our highly regarded Wunderlich SpeedCruiser - and it shows!
‘If the Bagger is an American sedan, our concept bike is a muscle car: It can cruise!
‘But it can do a lot more!’

Horrible looking motor. Looks like a Chinese copy but the rest of the bike is strangely appealing

It does absolutely nothing for me. I'm all for BMW getting into the cruiser market but they need to come up with something that is going to appeal to the general riding population not just BMW riders.

Dont want it. If you are gonna call it a cruiser, it ought to look like an American cruiser. Just make it better and a BMW.

Re: R1600C cruiser concept

In my youth, if you went for a cruise (on your bike) it was normally on the hunt for a member of the opposite sex.

Even tho this bike will more than likely not come to fruition, I see possible R16R, or R16RS.

A 1600 cc twin??? What's thepoint?? Many serous disadvantages (e.g.very low red line, and hence very low horsepower), and no advantages whatsoever!

Hell, if you want a really dumb concept, why not a 1600 SINGLE.?

Re: R1600C cruiser concept

Can't believe you wrote that Bob, pretty sure you will find, 800cc is bordering on the biggest (practical) in cylinder size.

So triumph mustn't know what they are doing with the 'Storm' 1699cc from two cylinders?

The DR800 picked up a pretty strong cult following..even now, from a single cylinder.

The more I look at it, it's not a cruiser at all, more like a bobber/urban style thing.
