Question No more 170/60 with the Road 5.

So...

Go with Road 4 GTs

OR

180/55 Road 5s?

Question Re: No more 170/60 with the Road 5.

Wondering if the 170/60 tire size will be phased out across the board???

Possibly, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, in fact I've run 180's on my 5" rim in the past. Handling differences seemed minimal and it wasn't really possible for me to do a true comparison given the reason that I was running the 180 (a trackday takeoff from my GSX750R) to begin with was to finish off a tire where the sides were pretty well gone. As far as the width, if you really think about it, you are only talking about 5mm bigger (per side). Height wise, the 170/60 is a 3mm taller tire.

All things equal, I'd run the 170. If 170's become obsolete, I think that the 180's will be acceptable to you.
