Problem with speedometer

Took a ride today and noticed that the speedometer does not show correct speed. Feels like it shows half of what the actual speed is, followed some cars on a road that is 80km/h, as i do not know their exact speed i cant count on this, but tried several cars, following them my speedometer showed between 40-45km/h.

Put my bike in 6 gear and set rpm to 6000, speedo showed roughly 60km/h. Felt like i was more on the double.

What speed should it have read if all was correct, anybody knows how to calculate this?

1,559 (92:59 Teeth), Primary
2,294 (39:17 Teeth), 1
1,789 (34:19 Teeth), 2
1,458 (35:24 Teeth), 3
1,240 (31:25 Teeth), 4
1,094 (35:32 Teeth), 5
0,971 (33:34 Teeth), 6
1,045 (23:22 Teeth), Final drive

6 gear, 6000rpm, tire circumference is 1949,2 mm, (190/55-17).

Read all the electronics and got no fault codes.

Re: Problem with speedometer

Hi Mattias,

I'm not 100% sure but isn't the Vehicle Speed measured at one or both ABS Sensors? Maybe take a thorough look at the ABS Sensors, Connectors, and Wiring.

Re: Problem with speedometer

Hi Mattias

You have the correct value on you engine speed on the clock because it's reading from a sensor.

If you use any GPS, you obtain the best actual speed. Odo show different values because the tire has different values depending on wearing.

Then you can obtain a pretty good speed if you put the engine @ 6000 RPM and look the gps speed. (usually is a 5-10% less than the clock reading).

If you like to see the calculation, wait for my weekend

My speedo showed half of actual value, no sensor problems as there were no codes in any of the computers on the bike.
All good now, i searched the web and found what values all parameters should be, reset the kombi and tested the bike, now it shows correct speed.
No idea what happened, i have not been in the coding. Maybe something with the battery being on tender all winter?

Re: Problem with speedometer

What did you do to reset the "kombi"?
6th Gear, 6000 RPM, hummm, that is faster than 80K/hr.
