Thanks for the info Paul.
I think $895 with a lifetime warranty is a good deal.

Re: ABS II-Rebuild by Autoecu:

I think the warranty is 5 years for bikes. In any case here it is, posted it somewhere else, seems more relevant here. Click zoom and read the fine print...!

Re: ABS II-Rebuild by Autoecu:

hi mate,
will be interested to hear how it all goes... my local repairer said that they don't do reburbishments on abs units over here in oz at present... at least on m/c units
(so i am told).
a new bmw unit at around $3k plus fitting for my '03 k12 gt sounds a bit steep to say the least. i love the bike but well... it's not what i would call a happy ending ;/

cheers
mick.

Re: ABS II-Rebuild by Autoecu:

I have just got mine back from them took a while but hope its worth it cost me £290.89 GBP including shipping back to the UK Had to pay £50 GBP to ship it to them but BMW wanted £1500GBP + a charge to set it up on my bike and only a 1 year warrenty not five year as i got. I have just finished sorting out the tools needed and getting my head around the complicated bleeding process. Hope it all goes well next week with the brake bleeding or the bike will be parted. Tyler is their BMW bike specalist and he is a god in these matters and very helpful. See below for Web address www.modulemaster.com

Just got off the phone with these guys and I plan on using them to repair the module on my 04 K1200GT. Price has risen to $1569.43 with tax but it still beats the stealers price of $2300 + labor.
The warranty on these is 5 years unlimited mileage. It's only 2 years on a new one.
Bike gets dropped off Saturday and I will keep the board posted on results... Their toll free is 1-866 983-6688 and option 2 is customer service.

IF MM cant source the parts needed to repair these, I doubt AT has either. I would be very suspect

We will see I guess. They did not express any trouble getting whatever parts they need to rebuild with when I spoke to their customer service.
Was your module repaired by them OK?

I will keep the board posted as this progresses. It seems that MM has had a lot of issues in obtaining parts. When I called them, they indicated their sourcing was from China and that multiple difficulties were encountered in getting the brushes they needed to repair the motors on these units.

Will keep all posted on progress. I note your moniker, what do you fly?

Before you commit, you might want to browse through Merlin's dealings with AutoECU (ASI) trying to get his iABS unit repaired:
http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=47462
http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=49429
Doesn't give great confidence in their ability to rebuild the iABS in your '04.

That was a bit of a horror story. MM has no brushes and the TN guys have had at least one bad result. May be painted in a corner with going to a dealer..........

If you want some interesting reading, go to:

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/specific_search/Automotive%20Scientific%20Inc

You may have to cut and paste this website into your browser. Thanks so much for that warning, won't be dealing with these folks. The bike can wait until MM gets their parts. Found nothing unfavorable on MM.

Re: ABS II-Rebuild by Autoecu:

I've thrown in the towel on finding a company that can repair the ABSIII for a reasonable price. And having talked to Module Masters and read the threads about how long they have been telling folks that they're close to sourcing parts and being able to rebuild these units "in a couple months", I've decided not to wait and am going to turn my bike into a non-ABS machine.

The brake master cylinders are now connected directly to the calipers (front cylinder to front calipers, rear cyclinder to rear caliper). Last night I began the process of removing the ABS modulator from the bike but ran out of time so will resume this weekend. I plan to disconnct the control module from the ABS unit (have to drill out the screws) and then plug the control module back into the bike so that the speedo and other electrics that ran through the ABS unit will fundtion properly.

fixed my problem with the abs unit, kind of!! dropped the bike at around 30 klms and wrote her off cosmetic damage only more or less. was going to get her fixed but decided against it even though the new unit was fitted at a cost of around $3,500 6 months before
BUT now the proud owner of a '07 K1200GT SE was graphite colour but not any more... the lovely orient blue... just lioke the old bike= only better

thanks for the great input and advice found here anyways
