Which Coolant (UK)

Hi

Going to be changing the coolant, bought the vacuum kit thingy. Just wondering which coolant I could use and buy in the UK, assuming I don't find a BMW dealer and buy some from them?

Thanks!

Honda motorcycle coolant works fine. Got to be a Honda shop around? I believe it already is pre mixed to 50/50. If not use distilled water not de-ionized. There are others too.

Always been a fan of Silkolene Pro Cool but in all honesty any of them out there are more than good enough

Re: Which Coolant (UK)

Actually there are some coolants out there that will cause trouble. It has to be aluminum rated and no nitrates if I remember correctly. Buy something at your local motorcycle dealer and you have a good chance of being just fine. Even the BMW car shop is a good choice.
Here is one thread of many. If you use the advanced search you can spend the evening reading about it.

Pentofrost NF, made by Pentosin and avaiable at NAPA. Same Blue stuff that BMW uses.

...and don't even think about changing coolant unless you have a vacuum system. Trying to simply drain and refill without evacuating your cooling system per BMW's instructions, risks trapping air bubbles in narrow passageways and rapid overheating.

Nonsense! BMW states that the coolant must be free of Nitrites (not "Nitrates"). Also Dex Cool (the pink stuff) is not acceptable.

The OP lives in the UK, not sure there is a napa or Pentosin products there.
