SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

It's on in England, a fast and bumpy track, FP1 and 2 times below, Marquez is learning the limits and has crashed twice uninjured, the kid must be made of rubber. Hopefully it will remain dry throughout the weekend. Go Vale, go!

Re: SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

Didn't Silverstone get resurfaced a few years ago, or was it just a section that was redone?

Hard to believe that the current level of bumpiness is acceptable...

Marquez's quote following his two get offs, the first one wadded up his # 1 bike, the second was a slower speed low side,

"Regarding the bumpy surface, due to the braking loads from the F1 cars, Marquez stated: "in the Safety Commission we will ask again for it to be resurfaced because it is one of the worst of the calendar."

Re: SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

Qualifying is in the books, looked like Vale had a shot at the pole until the last section of track, wound up second, just a tick behind MM, who broke the track record, looking forward to a good race and the weather looks like it will be dry, here you go, (and FWIW I was curious and Louis Hamilton took the F1 pole earlier this year, fully 30 seconds a lap quicker, damn!)

Re: SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

The two bucking broncos on the Hondas should make an interesting start at the front row. Medium or hard rear? Could be a lot of crashes...

So, it was Hamilton who made that track ripple...

Re: SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

A good race, and a smart race by Dovi, the Ducati's speed and tire management gave him the title, disappointing for me as a Rossi led for the first 16 laps before his rear tire went off, with him winding up in third. Marquez you ask, to be expected as it does once every 10 years or so to a Honda MotoGP bike, his engine blew up and he was a DNF. So, Dovi takes the lead in the championship,

Points totals as of now in the championship:

1. Andrea Dovizioso ITA Ducati Team (GP17) 183 points
2. Marc Marquez SPA Repsol Honda (RC213V) 174 points (-9)
3. Maverick Viñales SPA Movistar Yamaha (YZR-M1) 170 points (-13)
4. Valentino Rossi ITA Movistar Yamaha (YZR-M1) 157 points (-26)
5. Dani Pedrosa SPA Repsol Honda (RC213V) 148 points (-35)

I like Dovi... he's smart and he races cleanly... I would love to see him maintain his lead, but it will be a dog fight...

Re: SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

I thought all three races were pretty entertaining. That Moto3 race had me on the edge of my seat all the way to the flag.

They were making a lot out of how the Yamahas are hard on rear tires. WTF is that all about? The traction control allows more spin or what? Seems like that would be an easy thing to tune out unless it's there because that's what Rossi likes. Vinales was right there with him at the end on a soft rear vs. Rossi's hard. Not sure what to make of all that. The Ducati faithful must be loving life these days though wondering why JLo is on the team at all.

Should be an exciting season down to the wire to crown the '17 champion.

I put a "left hand rear brake" by Rekluse a couple of years ago on my Husky and love it. Its principal use is for squaring corners and control in rutted, difficult downhills. Its so good (not nearly as sophisticated as the Brembo solution) but I've come to use it all the time and miss having it on my road bikes. Its great! A few other dirt guys have added it as well!

Re: SPOILER - Silverstone MotoGP

Valentino is slowly slipping away and Dovi and his Duc are showing championship style. Rossi always shows grace to the winner unless it is that guy on the 93 Honda.

Did you notice the Ducati was not blowing Rossi's Yamaha into the weeds?

For his first Ducati year, Lorenzo keeps poking his nose into the crowd. Go Jorge!

I wonder what Ducati has done to their frame to make a better manageable chassis, dumped the carbon fiber?

Dani Pedrosa is no slouch, expect another win soon.

If Gumby keeps throwing his Honda on the ground... blown engines will not be a surprise. He is sure to have a bad back and a limp when he gets to be an old guy...
