New K1200GT owner 2004 SF California East Bay

Came across a beautiful K1200 with 34k miles on it. I've never been partial to BM'rs, but this one caught my eye so after a bit of research I jumped on it. Great price from what I saw (1,950, comps were well over) and previous owner took care of it (receipts, etc). Went down picked it up and have been loving every mile, problem free. Some modifications made, such as the jerry-rigged shift lever, noisy windscreen, peg lower delete. I'm a old school kind of rider, have never taken any of my bikes to a shop or stealership but the PO would take the bike in if it needed air in the tires... Long story short any time I get a new to me bike, I like to go through it. Removing the plastics is very straight forward, but during this task I find reg. screws where torx are used from the factory. Removing the old oil filter required the use of a breaker bar (first time for that on a oil filter).

I love this bike, and owning it has changed my mind about the brand... I take everything I ever said about BM'rs back lol. I've used the forum for all kinds of info and want to say that without exception, the detail and knowledge that members/admins display in posts/replies is freaky! I'm eating it up, so here's to all of you (raises glass) who post and reply... much thanks!

Welcome aboard.

That's one beautiful K-bike . . . and you can tell that it's German : it's already got its towel down

Thanks Louis, still enjoying the ride yet have taken a bit of a break due to something stupid on my part. I'll have to break into the engine to see how extensive the damage is... will post in a new thread in the appropriate forum.

Cheers and thanks again!
Ian

Interesting to see what problem you've encountered.

Its hard sometimes to get good answers on this site, but if you post in the K1200rs/rt section we'll do our best.
