Re: K12GT Fuel Mileage Poll

49 mpg on my 2,008GT with 30,563 on the clock. Most of the miles are on the open road at 65 to 75 mph in California.

Re: K12GT Fuel Mileage Poll

Mine is a daily driver with 84K on the clock. Mostly city driving but if you've been to Houston you know how wide open it is. The bike sees triple digit speed daily. I get 42 mpg.

Re: K12GT Fuel Mileage Poll

Went for another 500km ride yesterday, this time with my wife as pillion. First tank fill was 5.3lt/100km (53.2mpg) and the second fill was 5.01lt/100km (56.28mpg). Generally rode at about 120kph (68mph) on the open road with a few enthusiastic passing opportunities. Excellent figures. I noted that the second fill was with 95 Ron fuel. Remember Australia is 4.55 litres to the gallon not 4 litres as in the USA.

Regards

Garry

And the best part is the get up and fly ability of that K12gt will keep those ISIS slime buckets from getting a knife to your throat

Re: K12GT Fuel Mileage Poll

Got my 2008 k12GT last year with 13K mi and got 45mpg on a consistent basis over appx 6K miles. Got the valves checked and installed new spark plugs and so far this year my mileage has been consistently low 40's (mpg)!! It's also started to backfire on mild deceleration. Still a blast to ride but the performance degradation is annoying. Any fault isolation thoughts??

Re: K12GT Fuel Mileage Poll

No idea what the problem may be. Do you have the service history? Have all the service updates been done? ECU, air box, etc. Could be dirty air filter among a number of other things.***************************************************** *MdMn*********

Mudman, thanks for your thoughts. I changed the air filter when I replaced the plugs so I'm pretty sure that's not it. I do enjoy 'that little twisty thing' on the right handlebar....possibly a factor. When I spoke with the local BMW dealer they told me the air box had been replaced but I have not checked that (I hate to take it off the road during riding season). Thinking of breaking down and buying a GS-911, hoping that will help with diagnostics. Is there good documentation for that tool (specifically re code interpretation)?

Yes, the documentation for GS-911 is very good. There are also supplemental how-to's on-line. Just google GS-911.

This is the address of the company who makes it: www.hexcode.co.za They have the user manual and other resources on-line.

Re: K12GT Fuel Mileage Poll

The stats are "interesting", I suppose, but of no real value to me. I used to ride with a group of Goldwing owners (CB radios, headsets, etc.) and whenever someone needed to stop for gas they would get on their radios and report for fuel costs at local stations. I mean, OMG, you have a 7-gallon tank. Are you really going to ride 5 miles out of your way to save 14-cents?
