F**k 'em. They don't know what life is all about and when they die they'll all go to Hell and live in a 8x8 room being forced to watch Easy Rider and Caddy Shack interspersed with Yoplait commercials for eternity.

Y'all sound like old people with millennial this and millennial that. The baby boomers were supposed to be the end of civilization with drugs and free love. Now we're the crusty conservative curmudgeons. The harsh realities of life will wipe the idealistic smiles from their faces soon enough, let them have their moment like we had ours.

How do you know that all boomers are conservative? Aside from that the gist of my comments is that unlike previous generations millennial's don't appear to be adventurous or interested in outdoor activities.

Re: What millenials hate...

You just can't force what you like on others. I know plenty of kids that are out hunting and fishing with their Dads and Granddads. I have a nice hard working young man that comes and fishes on the pond I live on. My neighbors kid fishes and plays baseball just like I did. There are kids of that age group who found their adventure over in Afghanistan and Iraq, and other countries you don't hear about. You all just sound like my Dad bitching about how our generation did things differently, long hair, rock music, etc. I became responsible after screwing up plenty and I'm sure they will too.

Re: What millenials hate...

There's a quote attributed to several different sources.. Some say Churchill..some say John Adams that pretty much sums it up, IMHO...

'If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.'

I resemble that remark.. I used to be a frothing Liberal..

I have to agree with you, Wes. It's funny how an older generation will project negative values upon younger generations because of their perceived differences. Millenials have different priorities, different sensibilities, different convictions, and desires. So the fuck what.

I love to hear that millennials don't want to work. Good for them!! I don't want to work. I want to be able to go and do fuck all for extended periods of time.

What you are really bitching about is that the millennials didn't buy into the older generations bullshit about having to work to continue the pyramid scheme of social security and rising government debt. It is the boomer's generation that has spent the countries riches with no regard for the future, expecting the younger generation to "pick up the slack". Yeah, I think they have it right.

Re: What millenials hate...

We hire folks here of all ages. Sometimes we get a really young person and you can tell they have some good in them but they have to go through a certain stage of development. They want to work the bare minimum of time, no overtime, etc. I always joke that if I can just get them to 25 they'll be OK. Once they get a house payment, car payment and their first kid, magically their priorities change and overtime looks pretty good. We have a no cell phone while working policy that helps too, that's the main difference I see. But they're good tech support when I can't figure out mine!

I had an old boss who would encourage people to go into debt, buying things to such an extent that the employee would be "bound" to come into work. How shitty is that?

The kids today don't follow this rule. They do not want to be bound to anything, especially an employer who doesn't have their interests in mind. I kind of envy these kids their ability to tell the system to suck it. Good for them.

I'm with you there on the snowflakes although I hate to use someone else's buzzword...

Also something to remember is those are 25 kids out of a university of 16,000. Duke is a great school and most of them will go on to do great things. Those 25 will probably grow up to be Yankee fans.
