Hey Craig. Since you asked...and its not your bike -i'll be honest.

This is not a flattering color scheme for the KR. I know they're going for the "boxer cup" look but at least those are dripping in carbon fibre and real performance modifications.

This is basically a stock bike with a wanna be racing paint scheme and stickers. The lok of the KR is not for everyone so don't try to make it look like everyone.

IMO the KR should be dark colors. It especially makes me smile when surrounded by colorful sportbilkes. Makes it standout in a very menacing kinda way!

My New 2013 KR. Recently upgraded from an f800st. just 300kms on the clock all done the same day I picked it up.

Awesome bike. It will take some getting used to but all in all amazingly capable , comfortable and ridiculously fast!!!

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Mods? Not really sure. I think I'll probably keep it cosmetic to customise it a little. I dont think it needs more power and I'm surprised to say the stock exhaust system sounds quite good for OEM!
We'll see in a few months!!!

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Hey Kiwi Mat,

It is a great bike for sure. Took it down the old road the first day I got it. Its a bike that needs a lot of room. Westhead near Pittwater is a great road (not enough corners though).
I'm sure I'll spot you no doubt.

Hey I wanted to ask you, my bike on deceleration has a buzzing sound to it around 3-4000 revs. A plastic-vibration type sound. Otherwise all sweet but this is pretty annoying. Have any issues with this?

How are you finding the bike otherwise?

Hey juice, this engine does that, mine is the same, there are a few threads in this site about the engine buzz around 4k revs. I'm sure a few others will have some comments for you too. I will post up the links later.

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

I was afraid you'd say that. Yeah I saw them there are quite a few. I was hoping they would have sorted it out by now. especially given quite a few of these boys have taken the issue to BMW Germany.

Oh well, maybe a louder exhaust will do it so I don't hear it! Gives me the shits though - such an awesome bike and this sort of issue overlooked.

How many kms have you done?

I'll mention it to the service guys at the 1000kms service.

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

I've said all along that they should have colour matched the seat cowls in Red. I think it completes it. The rim stickers look good as well

The buzzing is annoying but it has improved over previous models. I had a 2010 S and it was very bad. I don't realy notice it on the R now.

I have done 3,500km now, when I had the 1000km service they installed the foam insert into the front brake fluid reservoir, I didn't have to pay for that. Make sure they do it if its not already there.

Yeah, I like the idea of the rear tail panels in red, some like the front guard painted too.
I have never been a fan of rim tape.... But that picture is growing on me.

Cheers

Hey Mat,
This foam insert you are talking about - what is it for? Did it resolve the buzzing?

Hey Congrats on the bike, we wanna see it!
What sort of remus did you get? I have always used remus cans on my other bikes. from my impression, many of them look a little small on the k1300r??

cool - I had the same one on my F800 st except that it was a full system. How does it sounds baffle out? Do you have another pic further from the bike?
I guess I like the way it shows more of the wheel. The Akra is rather large and the price they charge for the BMW version is just stupid.

Yes it does that - as most seem too - very annoying for a bike of this price/quality
I do think its not as bad now with the pipe on
I haven't run it sans baffle. I quite like it standard & have had loud bikes in the past so a bit over that
I'll have to get out & get some more pics
Will have some after Tassie trip next week

That buzz is super annoying, especially for that price. - I am however, after a lot of gnashing of teeth and unpleasantness, in the process of getting it sorted. Will let you guys know how I go.

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

The new K1300R Stealth

Well, BMW has obviously changed a few things in the last 18 months because the suspension has changed and the fueling has been revised. Now these aren't documented changes, just changes i can feel.

I had the SE's suspension on two helmets and swapped between normal and comfort mode. I went straight to this setting on the Stealth and it felt completely different, a lot firmer. I am now back to single helmet which feels similar the the SE's two helmet setting.

The fueling between the two bikes is like black and white. Changing the exhaust on the SE bought on popping on decel, a huge flat spot at 5000rpm and just general unsmoothness. This forced me to add the Power Commander and make the other changes necessary to make it run smooth.

The same pipe on the stealth and there is absolutely no problems with popping, no flat spot, no surging, no jerky on off throttle response (maybe the SE just wasn't set up right from the factory). I had my workshop all set up so i could install the Power Commander and remove the exhaust butterfly on the Stealth as soon as i got it home on Saturday. But the 250klm i did before i got home convinced me that the PCV is not needed. It runs better than the SE with the Power Commander. I did a further 300klm yesterday to reinforce the fact. I have a BMC filter and a Booster plug laying around so i might install those and see what happens.

If your interested, a few uf us are doing a run and staying at the Lunatic Hotel in Drake on Saturday night. We'll go via Casino and do a run up to Tenterfield and back in the afternoon. If rooms are not available in Drake we'll stay at the Royal in Tenterfield.

If you stay at the Royal the local cop comes in about 10pm to pick up his wife the waitress and does a few magic tricks if there is a few people left in the bar - was funny as

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Hi guys, first post! I'm picking up a 2013 in red and wishing I hadn't read this forum! Does anyone have a k1300r that doesn't make a buzzing sound on deceleration?

Probably not
It gets better after 1st service
Wear earplugs + get a pipe, you'll be too thrilled with the bike to notice

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Thanks mate. Pipe sorted but hate riding with ear plugs. Doesn't feel as safe. Also have never understood spending a grand on a new exhaust sound and then wearing plugs! Does seem that on balance people are happy with their bikes. Just such a big spend for me.

Thanks charlie, yes, I bought a dented muffler on ebay and made some modifications. I keep the original without use. Basically shorter, w/o catalizer and drilled inside. I like to expose the rear wheel, IMO the best thing of our bikes

Hi Dan

Yes, acid green, same as S1000RR.

This weekend I'll prepare a report of the mod with pics, I made it. Wait a bit please

Yes please! That's a great looking exhaust - I love the stubby look on the stock can! I've been considering a Quill exhaust but it doesn't allow mounting of the heat shield that goes over the mount point between the headers and the can.

Bernardo:

Something about the KR - they all look so bad - in a really good way. Your pipe mod looks great - waiting to read your report on how you made it.
