Not much of a picture I know, but it's showing my Wunderlich Triton 2 light, which is a MASSIVE improvement on the standard 'Baboon's Arse' look!

I'll post some more pics once I work out exactly how the best way to mount the number plate!

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

This photo was taken less than 2 months after taking delivery of Bebe. The cobby looking Samsonite briefcase is how I carried my 'work', and it served me for nearly 20 years over several different motorcycles.

photo sharing

A little peek into my former "office" so too speak. The FAX, subsequent e-mail PDF's and post 911 security concerns replaced the legal messenger industry as sure as the automobile replaced the horse and the buggy-whip. But for over 20 glorious years every day was a new as well as 'paid' riding adventure in the So California sunshine.

Yes I got the belly pan on from wunderlich. Was thinking of getting it again for the k13r but opted for the fiberglass cowling instead, received it the other day from Poland.

BTW my error, my k13r is a 2013 demo, it had 2500km on it. They're no longer sold here. Replaced by the S1000R for 2014.

Yes Brucev you're right, I will do that

Cool, I am really interested to here some feedback on these polish fiberglass bellypans, how much work to get them ready for paint, do the holes match well? Are you going to colour match the red, that was my plan.

Cheers

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Hey Kiwimat,

It's going to be a few weeks before I can paint it as it's still to cold here, hopefully in a couple of weeks.
It looks like a good quality product, I'm going to do some light sanding and paint it with a primer/paint two in one deal. Some new formula from Rust-Oleum, I will post a pic once I've got it together.

Belly pan installed, all holes lined up pretty good with some minor flexing of the belly pan. The underside is as close to the exhaust as you can get without touching. Will see how it holds up as the exhaust heats.

I initially plasti dipped it but it started the peel a little on the edges so I took it off. If I were to do it again now that it's painted I am sure it would hold, maybe a future project.
I ended up painting it with rust-oleum, some new formula which is paint and primer in one.

later,
Jos

Hi jsph - very nice red KR and good call getting the belly pan.

Btw I bought a pit stand off a guy from Almonte. He had just traded his k12r for a hd and was regretting it. Was that you? Looks like your neighbourhood.

Cheers....perhaps I'll see you around this summer

Hey Dan,

Yes that was me.
I was out shopping for a bike for my son, when we stopped at the good time centre I saw the k13r and was literally vibrating when I walked out of there. I just had to go back and get it

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Hi guys. Here's my K1300R. A couple of people mentioned a buzzing sound on deceleration. Can't say I have noticed it on mine. I have noticed however that the heated grips are just a little too hot for me, on the first setting. I find myself turning them off after about 5 minutes then turning them on again later. I was thinking of asking the dealer if their level can be configured by the mechanic. Anyone any ideas on that?
I've only had the bike for 5 weeks but I am loving it. It can be ridden sedately around town and then also be an absolute beast when needed out on the back roads. What a machine!
I did have the misfortune to run over a piece of angular metal lying on the road about a week ago. It punched a neat hole through the bottom of my exhaust pipe. I was very lucky it didn't hit the motor. The whole exhaust system (minus muffler) needs to be replaced at a cost of around $2500 - ouch! Insurance job of course, but in the meantime I'm messing with muffler putty and exhaust wrap etc keeping the noise down. Probably be around 3-4 weeks for the new exhaust to arrive from Germany - none in Australia apparently.
I am also very impressed by the excellent mileage I am getting, in a combination of around town riding and some country road riding. It's around 5.6l/100k giving a tank range of around 330-350km. Not bad at all. Mind you, I'm not a really fast rider, although I like to give it a solid squirt now and then.
All in all, I am in awe of this thing as a machine. Looks great and goes like a rocket.
Cheers from down under.
Rob

Hi Rob, lucky that angle didnt get your foot or leg

You know you can get a full Akrapovic Evolution system from the US for $1500 AUD. well worth thinking about, it will change the bike for the better

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Hi DoubleD,
Very true about my incident. The exhaust is made of stainless steel and it still punched a neat hole. It would have made short work of my boot. I am counting my lucky stars. Regarding a replacement exhaust, while only the headers and pipe have to be replaced, I still prefer the OEM muffler. Sound is fine for me and it looks great when polished up. Thank heavens for insurance!

Cheers,
Rob

We share the same bike and colour and I just returned to fitting the original exhaust can which to be honest I prefer the sound and volume of but the looks of the BMW Ackrapovic is much better.

A brace of gratuitous bike shots from this morning. North of Harrogate on a road to Pateley Bridge (one I'd never been on before ).

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Greetings from Dublin, Ireland. Had my dream bike since November last year. Here it is, with me at the Martello tower in Balbriggan. No mods yet except for the Wunderlich oil cooler cover.

Best to all.

Ravi

Ok. The past 2 weeks I have been busy installing helibars, topcase mount and a windscreen onto my K1300R.

LOL. Blame the wifey and me. She needs a backrest and I need a place to put my laptop when I bring bike to work.
I put the windscreen as its getting colder in Toronto.
All except the handlebars can be removed easy.

So which one hurt your eyes?

Re: Let's see YOUR K1300R!

Hi guys,

I've just recently upgraded my K12R to this gorgeous beast.

I took the liberty of transferring most of the carbon fibre from the old bike to this one. I also swapped the entire exhaust over. I just love the look and sound of the powercup Laser exhaust.

Bernardo, Nice looking bike. Like the look of the sandblasted exhaust.
Did you apply a clear coat to the exhaust?

What was the reason for painting your rims Bernie? Bored with the old colour or scratched?
And how were they painted? Professionally or by yourself?

Hi Kenn, thanks

Nothing, just sand blasted, with compressed air and a $20 blower, only to clean carbon and tar marks. It was already sanded when I made the exhaust http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?p=677577

Hi Paul

Scratched and little notches when changing tyre , and I thought a little dark and matte would be fine... I like how looks

I've prepared the rims to avoid work to painter , also repaired a little bend on the edge on a front rim (specialist).

The painter is a friend, car specialist, is the same type of the car paint.
