Chapter 9 - Simply Amazing

OK, so technically Chapter 8 and 9 are about the sister bike to our original 2007 K1200S. After 43000 miles on the 2007, and 3800 on a 2011 K1300S, its time for another update. There is plenty of reading below if anyone is so inclined. We really love this bike.

Chapter 1 - The first 50 miles
Chapter 2 - 210 for Pizza (illustrated)
Chapter 3 - Helen Back
Chapter 4 - THCR, 4786 miles in 11 days
Chapter 5 - A Year in Review
Chapter 6 - 2 years and 25,000 miles later...
Chapter 7 - Still the one
Chapter 8 - May I have this dance?

Chapter 9 - Simply Amazing
Yesterday we took a day ride for 173 miles under threatening skies. The sky may have been unpredictable, but the S was rock solid. She has about 11500 miles now. The first 8500 were put on by our own Triple D (Dare Devil Drew). I added the tinted screen, clear lens, chrome instrument rings, and Remus from i-bmw site vendor and friend Jerry, aka Pirates Lair

This is our 2007 pre disposal.

This was a K1300S in between.

Total of the three is only about 50k miles, but those 50k have been the most fun of all 400k before them. The K12/1300S just does it all. YMMV but for us this bike works perfectly. It sport-tours extremely well.

But why go back to a K1200S from the 13? I'm sure some of you have wondered that. Its really quite simple. I loved the black 2007, and my trade up wasn't exactly what one would call planned. Our K1300S was beautiful. We received compliments on her every time we went for a ride. But the K1300S never felt like it was ours. So we sold it and went to Texas in our other toy.

But this was an international i-bmw event, not ZdayZ. SO on the way home we started talking about another bike. We had been bike-less for three long weeks. Time to fix that so I called Drew and asked bout his 2008. Still for sale? "Yes". We quickly struck a deal and brought her home.

To the roads ahead. And to the best sport-touring bike ever made.

All these miles, all these years, and shes still the one. Simple amazing.

p.s. Yeah, her too.

Re: Chapter 9 - Simply Amazing

Something just seems right with the world with you on a black K12s.

Things just seemed out of balance a bit with the blue K13s.

Hope the miles continue to be as sweet.

Tim

Wow - I guess I missed that bit in your tour stories.

Very glad you lived to ride another day.

Maybe next time have some Pink Floyd playing in your earphones? I find it calms me and makes me ride slower.
