The S1000XR (Hybrid)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftFS4JDNv7o

Well, Lee mentioned this bike in the next thread down from here, figured this video might be of some interest. They're calling this bike a "Hybrid". At least, somebody is calling it that - part sport bike, part GS. What is for sure, is the height is there (GS), but it's sans shaft and telelever, but "sports" that RR four cylinder engine in what is termed a bit "de-tuned".

The guy that did this video - Missenden Flyer - is very prolific with videos, even has a "channel" where you can subscribe to his work. He also owns/rides a w.c. GS. He does a pretty good narrative; and, it's not a BMW promo vid.

That's a paradigm shift in the ADV arms race from 5 yrs ago.

Power isn't everything, but it sure can be fun!
And in the next article/review, I find myself wanting a WC boxer, GS or RS more. It's a 1st world problem to have such tough things to consider!

Here's a much more amusing but equally informative video about the S1000 XR - from Baron von Grumble - another with his own channel.

I bet those numbers would look different against the new water cooled boxer.

Philip,

What a fun video - from beginning to end. Not sure why, but it's as if Michael Palin were to ride motorcycles, it would be like this - sort of a Monty Python sketch set to the modern era of digital videos. Surely showing my age bracket, here!

Also wasn't aware that Mr. Von Gumble owned a GS. Makes for a positive statement on the new XR that he's debating a switch over to the newer bike.
