Have the clutch basket holder tool?

I need to beg, barrow, rent or buy the tool used to hold the clutch basket so the big nut can be removed.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Mike in So. Cal.

Re: Have the clutch basket holder tool?

Didn't the thread by 404 elsewhere suggest that tool wasn't needed?

I've not done this but by memory from his pics, it seemed that a large strap wrench might do the job? God forbid a smallish chain wrench such as used on pipe would also hold the clutch basket, but understand that if the basket is brittle or the chain wrench not carefully placed, the basket may not stand for that, and it ain't cheap either, like me.

Re: Have the clutch basket holder tool?

Thanks, I appreciate it.
Seeing I can get a proper tool I may as well use it and not risk it but good to know there are options. Cheers

The part you want to hold is not the basket but the part inside the basket. The manufacturer machined some notches on the end of the inner piece that the wrench hooks into. You could use an impact gun to remove the nut but the shock from the impact gun goes right into your transmission. A wrench is probably cheaper than a transmission if a gear tooth was to break

I would lend my wrench but I am in the middle of a clutch rebuild and modification.

Thanks Dusty, got it sorted.

Patrique83 kindly offered not only to lend all of the necessary tools but in fact he came over and helped me earlier this afternoon. Travelled half way across Sydney to give me a hand with removal, it's worth noting I did not know him prior to his reply in this thread earlier today - great camaraderie and he is a top bloke.

Now just need to get the clutch basket over to fourhundred4 to work his magic on it.

I live in the DFW area of Texas and need a clutch holder tool. Does anyone have one to sell, rent, borrow?
