Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

Just ordered a set from my local Wal-Mart for pick up.

There must be a glitch in the Wal-Mart matrix because I got the pair for $25.25 plus tax.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/SYLVANIA-...-Pack/21950002

What you would pay for two of the 'basic' bulbs.

You might give it a look and see if they're in any of the stores in your area at that price.

Just a heads up.............

Buy a lot of them, as they don't last very long...

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

I've bought them for my cars, couldn't agree more yes there nice but they don't last long, in fact I was tired of changing them out and went back to the basic bulb.

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

I used them when I had my K12R. I bought them at an auto parts chain store and they came with a one year warranty, so I kept the receipt. They usually failed in less than a year.

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

What I know about them? The fine print on the packaging got a lot small smaller between when I bought some at Wally in 2009 and now.

Installed on the K1200RS in 2009. Removed shortly thereafter and installed HIDs.Let there be light ahead....!

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

Had them in my truck and as others said they don't last long. Usually a year or so if lucky. Or less.
Better setup is a HID kit from Pirates Lair.

I plan on putting them in my bike NOT my truck.

So the bulbs didn't fail?

You just wanted to put in an HID set?

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

Hmm, the fine print on the box says the bulbs are worth about 100 hours on low beams. However, that is most likely for a car. Figure a bike has it's low beams on all the time whereas a car is only during the night.

I'm going to keep track of my usage hours and if they exceed 100 I'm going to take them back and ask for a refund!

Talk about false advetising

Fine print! Should also say that the increase in light output is from comparing new Silverstars to used OEMs on any vehicle?

Halogen bulbs wear out over time and light output decreases.

I was going to say they do OK for me when today I noticed one of the nearly new Silverstar fog lights in our Jeep is burnt out. 6 months for 25 dollars isn't good.

Great when they're on though.

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

Well, I'll just see how they do.

When they go out I guess I'll just put stokers back in.

I really didn't get them for night riding as I don't do much of it.

Mostly for better visibility during the day with a whiter/brighter light.

Thanks.

I understand that they are for your bike so I don't want to be changing them any more often than needed.

No didn't use them on my bike. On my bike anyway, it is a PITA to replace a bulb.

My point, as well as others would be that if the bulbs have a short life span and at $25.00 you re about half way to the cost of a HID unit of about $60.

Just my opinion .

Would be interested in your results tho.

Not difficult to install on the K 13 s.

However, I don't want to spend money on new bulbs all the time either.

Guess we 'll see how it goes.

Re: Sylvania Silver Star Ultra Bulbs

About 150,000kms on my HID low and bulb burned out.Divided by 90kmh average speed? That's over 1600 hrs. Replaced with an even better HID bulb from DDM.May outlast my bike....!
