My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

I guess there is not much demand for these bikes anymore. I have a real low mileage k1300S with all options and upgrades priced at what I think is low (6995.00) and I have had zero interest. Too good of a bike to let go for much less. When I was looking for these bikes a few years ago, they all sold quick. Times are changing, the younger generation are not riding.

Re: My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

That seems like a great deal. I used to have an '05 K12S, and loved a lot about the bike but it was plagued with many of the first year gremlins, so I got rid of it years ago. I now have a '14 S1000RR, and I gotta admit, I've been looking at used K13S bikes lately. I absolutely love my S1K, but I do miss the long-distance comfort mile-eating capabilities of the K. I've noticed the K1300's on the E-auction site don't seem to be moving much either. Don't know what it is.

Please don't post any pictures or I might be tempted to buy a plane ticket to Dallas

It seems that many bikes have the same problem with not selling.

Where are you posting the bike? Is there a link somewhere? Asking for a friend.

While I've had some success with Craig's List, you may wish to give Cycle Trader a try. This is a much more comprehensive site with a larger following. Also don't forget that the riding season ( interest wise at least) for most folks is rapidly coming to an end. What year is the bike by the way?

Wow! two years sitting at a dealer is really bad! Does it have super high mileage?

Re: My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

Hey Dan, post some pictures with the sports panniers, bags, and tank bag on it. Maybe one with the tank bag and one without. Not everybody knows these bikes, not everybody is going to read the blurb. And tell them how awesome this bike is, how much power it has, how easy it is to ride 300miles+ a day touring. Perfect for 2-up. Etc etc........
Please send my bottle of whisky as soon as you sell it.

Re: My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

EBay is the only way to go.. It's nationwide. I sold my last 4 bikes on Ebay. All sold within 4-5 days.. I got the price I was asking on all of them.. It's a no brainer..

Oddly enough, I only met one of the buyers.. None needed to test ride the bikes.. After payment was received, I just made sure the bike was available on a certain day for the transport companies to pick them up..

EBay takes a cut of the action.. I think it's a flat $200 or so...Well worth it...

Re: My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

I've been looking for a second bike to complement my K16GTL and have considered another K13S but in reality the K13S is outdated technology compared to the S1RR as well as bikes from other manufacturers. No cruise control, no engine management system, no quick shift pro, no fly by wire, most are out of warranty and the model is discontinued so factoring in those issues it's no wonder these bikes don't sell well anymore. I loved my K13S but for the reasons stated I'm reluctant to buy another. Another fact is the K13S was never really popular except with BMW owners so now that its been discontinued its even less popular. I'll probably go with a S1R but there's several other bikes I'm considering to include the new Kawasaki 1000 ABS Ducati or Aprilia Tuono.

Lot of reasons covered here. Wrong time of the year for you guys, discontinued model, BMW's reputation for costly parts, the list goes on.

Why are you selling it?

I bought yet another bike. I got a great deal on a triumph trophy SE. I don't have to sell the K, but I don't have time to ride both. I am just surprised at the slow moving motorcycle market as a whole. Even the dealers I talk with are having a tough time moving things.

So you're moving it coz you got another bike, not coz you've fallen out of love with it.

Hmmm ...

$6,995 (lower if a buyer knocks you down) is a steal to anyone who may eventually buy it. Here's what you do: Park it up the back of the shed/garage, put a blanket over it and "make time" to take it out once a month or two for a little squirt around the block. Also, that way, when the Trumpy breaks down (and it will ) you'll still have a ride while its getting fixed

I was looking at that bike the other day... pretty bike & I've always liked that paint scheme. Great price too & would be a good upgrade from the K12S.

I'd take some extra pictures with all your goodies mounted & consider the eBay route as Jerry suggested. You can also modify your Craig's list ad to have your ad shown in Austin, OK City, Houston, etc., to increase your area coverage.

Pretty bike... good luck!

I haven't spoke to dealerships but I see a lot of left over 2016 motorcycles on showroom floors, even a few 2015 leftovers out there. I guess it's a buyers market, I purchased a 2016 BMW K1600GTLE last April and received a $4000 factory incentive which made the bike affordable.

I don't know about the Ducats or the Tuono but I did own the Kawasaki Ninja 1000. The K is a big step up from the Ninja unless you want too buy a lot of aftermarket parts. Seat, suspension, Ivan's flash, brakes, 155 tires, fender eliminator.... Just my 2 cents.

The 2017 1000 ABS has a lot of upgrades/improvements from what I've read and received good reviews, not that I put much credence in what motorcycle magazine articles say. Plus the price is right, local shop has one brand new for 9998 so while it may not be the K13S equal it's close enough for what I want to do with it which is something light and quick I can take on short, 100-150, mile trips.

Re: My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

I can’t believe your having such a hard time, maybe it’s the area your advertising in, my dealer in Barrington, Illinois has told me if I ever want to sell mine he’ll give me top dollar for it! He said ever since BMW stopped making them he gets calls daily for people wanting to buy one! When ever he gets one on trade he said it’s gone within a week.
When I was in Nashville a couple weeks ago getting new tires put on my bike, I was talking to the salesman there, he said the same thing, in fact he felt like the K1300S might actually become quite the bike to hold onto! They didn’t sell really well so there’s really not a lot of them out there, he felt they might become a collectors item. There really are not that many for sale if you search for one.
Well at least not in my area.

There's 3 K13S in my area that have been gathering dust on showroom floors for months to include a 2011 with only 3700 miles and priced at 9 grand. I've been tempted to buy it but at that price point I can add a couple grand and get a new bike with warranty and the latest technology.

"Will not last long at this price. Price is firm!"
Delete this line. That's a turn off for me.

List the price as "OBO", take out the extras and when someone wants to haggle throw
in the extras instead of lowering the price.

Agreed! Sellers can post what they want, but to me when you see "price is firm", it is a turn off, particularly when you see the ad is 90 days old.

I agree with what you are saying but I think i will just keep it. Its too good a bike to let go for any less. It is a great time for buyers. I feel bad for the dealers out there trying to make a living in this market.

I agree with you as well but there are so many low ballers out there that you have to put something in to keep them from wasting your time.

I happen to disagree - I sell a lot of vehicles - and have sold a lot of vehicles over the years. I price the vehicle correctly - not what I want or think it's worth - but what the market is for the vehicle - and I typically state price is firm.

And when someone calls I tell them on the phone the price and not to bother coming to look at it if they can't see paying that price. I absolutely will not waste my time trying to get someone to my price.

I just sold my K1300S - and I sold it for what it was worth - not what I thought it was worth - but what the market is - I told the potential buyer what I needed to sell the bike.

In fact the buyer wanted to keep looking for a better deal - I wished him luck and told him I hope he finds what he wants.

He decided to come look at mine and there was no time wasted in regard to price - he checked it out - he rode it - and we made the deal.

Trust me the price was lower than what I thought the bike was worth - unfortunately the market is what it is.

Buyer bought a great bike - with many options for a little over half the price I paid.

Leaving it in my garage was not an option - I was not going to ride it like I used to (physically can't) and it certainly was not going to be worth more next year. Paying excise tax - insurance - registration - I would be a bigger loser no time flat.

Re: My 1300S near Dallas Tx will not sell

I love my K1300s, but know it lacks a few things that devalue the bike. We never got "sport mode" in traction control, the clutch is still wonky and ESA never rivaled a well set up pair of Wilbers or Ohlins. As said above, its not what it's worth, it's what you can get.

I would post a pic, but Priis looks like all the other Motorsport Editions out there.

Here ya go. Extracted from an actual ad on Craigslist. Enjoy:

NOTE: PLEASE, I ask that you do not contact me unless you are serious about buying a motorcycle like this one. I don't need to hear that you want to know if it is available. If you are "interested" just tell me you want to inspect the cycle. Interest doesn't feed the bulldog.

- Current photos and a detailed description. If it isn't in a photo or not listed, it isn't included. If it is in a photo or is listed, it comes with the cycle at the listed price. CONTACT ME WHEN YOU ARE READY TO LOOK AT THE CYCLE.

- Mileage will increase slightly because I periodically ride the cycle around the neighborhood.

- No test rides unless cash in my hand for purchase. You damage it, you've bought it.

- Do your internet research AND check with your bank BEFORE you contact me.

- I routinely review CraigsList for the posted prices of Sportsters with similar features and in similar condition. My price is correct. If you can't come close with an offer, please go buy a stock Sportster and build one like this. It will cost you a lot more.

- I will consider reasonable offers. The problem being that my definition is reasonable and yours may differ.

- A low offer using "I'll pay cash.", "cash today", or just "cash" will be ignored. That only works on TV shows. Anyone buying this cycle will be paying cash.

- I don't need to sell in a hurry. I have a clear title. I am not in college. I am not getting a divorce. I am not losing my storage. I have no kids in college, private schools or in jail. My wife is not pregnant. My sister's husband has a job. I have no kids moving back home. I don't need to pay a lawyer or make bail. All my appliances work. I already have a lawn service. My trees don't need trimming. And, my vehicles don't need repairs. Life is good.

- Dealers, do not contact me with offers to buy this cycle.

- Sold as is, where is. No specific or implied warranty. The description is accurate to the best of my knowledge. All photos are recent, unaltered and accurate. I'll start it during inspection.

- I will not ship this cycle. I can make a local delivery after the sale is finalized. I will not deliver it for inspection then haul it home.

- If you see this ad, the cycle is still available. I will not respond to messages asking this.

- Serious inquirers will be given my email address and phone number when they have money, permission to buy, and they are ready to look at the cycle. Inappropriate responses will be ignored, and sender will be flagged.
