Any way to reset the service indicator?

Without going to the dealer and paying them 50 time units (half an hour)?

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

Seems like I can get a 20 pin to OBDII adapter, a bluetooth OBDII connector, and then MotoScan for an android phone and accomplish the same thing as the GS911. Has anyone else done this?

In my opinion, the only thing accomplished for the home user getting the wi-fi is to eliminate a wire. If you use a receiving device without USB capability and / or want to ride with it connected, the wi-fi model may be what you want. Consider how and where you will use it when deciding to buy.

WiFi version is indispensable when traveling.

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

The trick with the WiFi version is to connect it to the hotspot on your smartphone. Then you have full use as long as you have cell signal. You can then connect your laptop to the hotspot and bingo. For some unknown reason Hexcode doesn’t share this setup tip despite multiple people sharing it in their forums including myself. I made a fully detailed post on how to do it.

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

Seems only logical. The GS-911 cannot sense the source of a signal, only if it is a usable signal. The instructions outline a "device-to-device" Wifi mode with the GS and a receiving device.

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

I have the old Yellow Body GS-911 USB/Bluetooth version.

I use USB when connected to my Laptop. The Laptop Software is what I'd call the "Full-Power" version. It does everything.

When out on a trip, I take the GS-911 and my Android Phone with the GS-911 App (free). I then connect via Bluetooth to my Phone and can get Diag Codes displayed on the Phone. The Phone App is not nearly as powerful as the Laptop Software.

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

The list of things you can’t do on your phone is very short. They have been steadily moving functionality to their cloud. So I’d say the PC version is only a bit more powerful at this point.

Also, there are two modes the GS-911 can connect with WiFi: point to point and infrastructure. The first is how HEXCode says to connect to your mobile device. The second is how they say to connect to your home WiFi. If you follow their instructions you will have very limited functionality due to no internet when you are away from your house. But if you turn the hotspot on your phone on and leave the gs-911 in infrastructure mode you will have full functionality as it will use your phone’s internet.

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

I have a laptop with tool32, ista and whatnot. Havent tried yet but will during the hopefully.
Also have a elm327 that i use on cars, bought the app Motoscan and connected the elm327 with the 10 to 16 pin adapter.
Could read the bike but my elm327 is no capable of writing long messages to the bike, have bought the unicarscan usci-2000 obd2 reader as it is made specifically for bmw mottarad vehicles it can write to the bike and code it.

The app and the obd reader cost 141usd shipped. I bought the biggest most expensive app there is a smaller version that is cheaper.

This thing can both reset service and be used to code the bike.

So a cheap and simple way of fixing is the motoscan app and a obd2 reader, the app creator also recommends the obdlink lx reader as it is tested with full functionality.

Re: Any way to reset the service indicator?

On Craigslist in Miami, there is a person offering to read or clear faults, and clear service for only $80. Guess he is planning on paying off his GS-911 Professional plus a little.

Do you have a specific vendor or part number for the 20 pin to OBDII adapter?
All the ones I'm seeing online have a large pin in the center of the plug, which is not a match for the motorcycle's connector

Can you tell me how to do this? I've got the lead and the blue tooth obd11 reader. Downloaded Motoscan but it's telling me it can't talk to a BMW bike with canbus. Any advice or have I wasted £20. Just wanted to reset my service light on my bike.
Thanks.

Free with a tire change here, I think considering the cost of the unit, 20 bucks is fair.

$20.00 is a fair price, but not $80 to run a GS-911.
