New to the fold
Been riding motorcycles over 50 years, and have owned several airheads, oilheads, K75's, and F650's.
Just retired after 30 years and was given a 1998 K1200RS with 25,000 miles on her from the original owner!
Am interested in learning more about this machine, such as where to order parts on line?
I am currently in need of the right flag decal, and would like to replace the side/center stand as it has some surface rust on it from spending the last year in a coastal town.
Cheers

Welcome Larry!

You could wire brush the rust off and repaint the stands. Save you a lot of money.

If not, check out The Beemer Boneyard for used parts.

www.beemerboneyard.com

Decals are available from BMW dealers. MAX BMW is a popular online dealer

Re: New Member

Welcome to the site. A 20 year old bike may need some TLC. We always recommend (urge) that you check on the right side of the bike, above the crankcase cover to see if the stock, black plastic, gas line quick disconnects have been replaced with a stainless steel version. The plastic ones are known to crack, and as the gas is under pressure from the fuel pump, if they do crack, spraying gas on a hot engine is a recipe for low grade entertainment. Beemer Boneyard sells the replacement parts. The replacements installed are visible here,

Also, if the bike still has the stock rubber brake lines, they deserve a trip to the trash can as well, as they are known to develop pinhole leaks or fail altogether, and as brake fluid eats paint, and having brakes fail can also lead to low grade entertainment, they should be replaced with either new stock lines, or better stainless lines. Here's a great source from one of our members, Pirate, for brake lines and lots of other fun stuff to throw money at, www.pirateslair.net.

Enjoy the bike!
