You were scaring that shark.
Looks like a great way to beat this hot weather.

Re: Diving Cozumel

Flyboy,

Great video. I dove Cozumel once and fully enjoyed everything about the trip. I didn't go through any caves, though!

Re: Diving Cozumel

Pretty cool Paul!

The only diving I've ever done is in Hawaii many moons ago, which included a night dive. On the last dive of the trip as I was headed back to the boat, I could see what looked like a big shadow coming my way. Turned out to be a Manta Ray & as it glided by, I thought it looked like a spaceship & then it just faded away like it just disappeared.

With all the diving you do, have you done any cenotes? I have buddy who has done that several times. Looks like a dream world.

They have a night dive in Hawaii just for the Manta's! Its a night dive and they turn on these massive lights and the Rays come to eat the plankton. It attracts dozens of these Rays swimming gracefully by you one after the other! It's magical!

Cenotes? Not for me.The water is cold, like 70 and its basically cave diving that's more technical than I want...I would have to have a redundant air source which is OK, but awkward to carry and or place stage bottles at different points...it is an amazing dive as well, but its Technical and although I'm certified Rescue Diver, I'm more into recreational diving...warm water, 100+ foot Viz and fishies

Re: Diving Cozumel

Been there maybe 1/2 a dozen times.. Love the island although it's been 20 years since my last trip. Was getting kinda crowded with all the cruise ships mucking things up..

Some of my best dive memories were there.. Palancar.. Tormentos.. One day we had just stopped at our intended dive site. The dive master went down to check the current and then came back up quickly and said.. "everybody in the water.. Now!" I just assumed there was a manta or some other camera-worthy creature below the boat, but instead it was a the clearest water I'd ever seen... an astounding 200ft visibility...On an average day in Coz it's around 80ft.. and 100ft viz is not uncommon, but damn.. I swear it was like diving in air.. It only lasted maybe 15 minutes, but I'll never forget. The divemaster said they used to see the water this clear a few times a year, but on this day he said it was a rare occurrence.. Simply mind boggling...

Thanks for the vid... Lovely town and nice locals..
