quickshifter weird behaviour

Hello all,

few posts here although i 've been a member since 2014.

recently i noticed something strange when shifting from 2nd to 3rd using quickshifter.

the gear lever did not have any resistance when trying to engage third. it was very strange and at that point i looked at the cluster gauge and the gear indication was blank.

the bike had 2nd gear engaged but did not engage 3rd even though i tried 3-4 times.

the only thing i could do was to downshift into 1st which unsettled the rear of the bike.

i rememeber i was accelerating smoothly, as always, and shifting gears up and got stuck into 2nd

now i dont know why 3rd could not engage, could it be a software glitch? throttle not open enough?

other than that, the quickshifter works fine, i can pull through all gears even though my revs are below 3000rpm

Re: quickshifter weird behaviour

Every once in a while I will miss a shift with the QS. It's pretty hard to do, as the system works quite well. I think it happens to me because of a lazy foot with not enough pressure while shifting. I don't think I would worry about it unless it starts to happen more regularly.

Re: quickshifter weird behaviour

Very hard to tell you what is going on from here - but a few things.

First of all you did not say if this occurs all the time or just one time?

Second the quick shifter pretty much works all the time - but it is designed to be used on acceleration - really opening the throttle - so when you mention very low rpm's that may be the problem.

And if it was a one time or two time occurrence - it could have been simply you did not execute a firm shift.

Now if none of this is the problem - then we look into proper shifter linkage adjustment - the pro shifter itself electronically may be acting up - could have something going on internally with shifter components.

Re: quickshifter weird behaviour

It happened once. Rest of the time is ok. Over time i have found out that the shifter is just fine even if ur accelaration is mild, that is u dont have to have fully wide open throttle to quickshift smoothly. I have tried many rpms and throttle positions and there are only a few occations where the shift is jerky. But i agree the shift has to be firm and decisive.

I was just curious to share that with u because its the first time the gear indicator was totally blank and gear lever had no resistance

I've had the gear indicator go blank before - again the shift was not good - almost like a false neutral.

A one time occurrence I would sum it up as a bad/lazy shift.

Re: quickshifter weird behaviour

I've had this happen once between 2nd-3rd, I put it down to me not being firm enough with the shift.

Clutch in and grabbed third and moved on with life.

No drama.
