Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

On back or smaller roads I wave at every two wheeler. I do not wave on separated roads but I do nod my head just in case.

No comment on whether you're discriminating, but I wave at scooter riders. Either you have two wheels or you have too many wheels on your vehicle.

No; but in saying that, if I were to see one on the "Nullabour",
I'd probably wave at his stupidity.

Also refuse to acknowledge Can-Am spyder, not bikes.

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

I wave at everything under 4 wheels. Scooter might grow up and ride real cycles some day. I wave at Spiders also. I have met 2 injured and 2 older riders on them.

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

I wave at most everyone but not to Harleys with apehangers or choppers. They don't wave 97% of the time. If it's a GW or a Harley, I usually wait for them to initiate a wave. Sometimes I wave with my throttle hand just to mess with people (i have cruise control).

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

Call it what you will, but most scooter riders have lost their driver's license for one reason or another...DUI...or meth related offenses. The scooters are in many cases in poor repair. So I don't wave.

I have waved at scooters now and then... never to the flower power drug addict riding on the thing. All scooters want to do is grow up to be a Mighty K1300S!

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

I wave or nod at anything on motorised two wheels and usually get a wave back from scooters, HD's, cops and learners alike. The only people who don't tend to have 'Panigale' written on the side of their poof mobile.

These things are not bikes! just ugly and in some countries they are classed as cars i think

I do wave to most bikes, HD riders rarely wave back and I pretty much do not see any scooters up in the far north tropical Queensland.

Do you feel any difference when your wave is not returned when riding the scooter or the K1200? or or or or

Noooo!! That is so Non-PC... the CinC was just born that way! Hmmm... I wonder if he waves to anybody on a scooter.

I knew a guy who had a dog named Scooter, because he dragged his ass all over his wife's living room carpet. Yeah, I know... I better go.

Interestingly, when I'm on the Vespa, most HD riders wave, rice-burners not so much

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

Sure, I wave to scooters....Spyders too, in fact I had a Spyder and discovered a good many guys on the Spyder forum had their Spyder and a wheelchair as their only means of getting around. You just never know.......

Altho you can be fairly certain about the HD rider with a 16" Springer and ape-hangers up to the telephone lines....no point in wasting a wave on that guy!

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

I rode two small motorcycles by Pirates' initial definition back in England in the early 80s. A 90cc and a 125cc. They were smaller and less capable than the Kymco 250 that I started riding on again back in 2006. After the first year, I moved up to a Burgman 400 "scooter". It would do over 100 mph, had a full fairing to protect you from the elements and had more storage space than the sport-touring motorcycles have...under the seat in one large usable area. It was so comfortable, I did my first SS1000 on it and it was like sitting back on a barcalounger waiting for the miles to roll on by. I'd call it a motorcycle.

I put over 70,000 miles on that Burgman 400 "scooter"...more than many members on this forum get on their real motorcycles, based on the poll I just took.

If it moves on two wheels and isn't pedal-powered, I'll wave.

Chris

Re: Do You Wave at Scooters?

Ya know, if you ride a "cruiser" it's easy to make hand gestures.

The handlebars are "down" on my KRS for a reason, it's a sports bike. With my weight forward it is unnatural to release a hand from the grip. So, pardon me if I don't wave.

Sometimes I drop my hand down for a little acknowledgement, but its not a given. I will try to wave at other BMWs, but if I'm going too fast or cornering too hard, congeniality is far from my mind.
