Re: Hog!!

Check out that collar bone injury. I broke mine when I hit a feral dog. X-ray looked like the bone ends were almost touching but it turned out they were not in line -- one piece was almost an inch behind the other. Three months later my right arm was sliding down almost 2 inches so I needed surgery to line up the pieces and put in a chunk of titanium channel. Took a couple of years before I could lift that arm above my shoulder. If they had fixed it right from the start I'd have been back on the bike a lot sooner and would definitely have suffered less.

Sorry for you! Damn that's sore. I know....I did the same thing back during the holidays except I hit an unexpected deep sandy spot on a side road.. Keep that figure 8 sling on. Prop yourself up to semi-reclining position in bed at night. It's hell even getting out of bed or doing just about anything, for that matter. Took a good month before the shoulder started to heal up. Drink good booze.Heal fast old boy.

Re: Hog!!

WOW, sorry to hear about this. I hope you heal fast Chris. I broke my collar bone and a few ribs a number of years ago the day after Christmas...lucky enough to not have punctured a lung. That is really a PITA.

The emergency room did X-rays and an MRI to make sure the break wasn't pinching an artery. They wrapped it an gave me a regular sling to tide me over.

I had to wait until after the holidays to see my doctor. By then the pain was gone and I could lift my arm above my head and move it around so the doctor said he didn't even want me wearing the figure 8 sling as he said it could limit my motion. He said that the only reason to do surgery on me was if he needed a down payment on a new Mercedes...he had just bought a new one for Christmas!

Stay out of the jokes section! As others stated, the ribs hurt at every laugh, sneeze/cough or deep breath.

The problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money. - Margaret Thatcher

Hopefully going home today. Should have the adjusters verdict today, the service manager thinks it's totaled though.

Anyone know if your helmet is usually covered by a full coverage policy?

I'll post pics of the bike and hog when I get them.

Thanks so much for the well wishes from everyone, this place is the best

Chris, for the most part, I think policies cover helmets, gear, and a minimal amount of farkles, unless you opted for more coverage. Take pictures. Scratches count.

Most companies cover gear that is legally required, usually only helmets. State Farm did not cover my riding suit or boots after I hit that damn dog.

Bike is officially totaled, geico will pay for most of my helmet, the dealer is keeping the bike till I get all the parts off it, he said the Corbin seat is unscathed.....could have been much worse.

This is why I had 3/50watt HID's and even then it wasn't enough on a rainy morning

Re: Hog!!

Just think if you were not wearing a helmet - totally different outcome for sure. I would really like to ride without all the gear - but your accident is just another one of those unforeseen situations that we never know when it will occur.

Re: Hog!!

got a few shots together, pics or it didn't happen ya know,

CAUTION/GRAPHIC PIC OF ROAD RASH

Couldn't get very good pics of the left side of the bike as I'm not moving around real good yet, the Corbin seat escaped as did my Oberon slave cylinder, luggage rack, HID lights, Throttlemeister(the right side, left has some rash) basically all my farkles made it, unreal.

I was wearing my BMW 2 piece rain suit that actually gave quite a bit more protection than I would have thought.........ATGATT would have negated all my road rash but not sure if even that would have kept my ribs intact when the bike landed on me at 60mph after going over the hog.

I did have on my steel toed boots and Bell Star full face which I'm certain saved my life.

I'll ride again, really can't imagine not riding

Be careful out there

Re: Hog!!

F@%K that pig Chris!!!

From the looks of your pictures, I'll bet you could buy that bike from the insurance company and part it out and at least make a couple bucks? The rims, headlight, tires were brand new?, brake components, shocks, yes? No?

Re: Hog!!

The frame is bent on the left side, you can see it in the pics, I believe that's what totaled it. The insurance company gave me plenty to get myself right back where I was or better if I make a good deal somewhere so I'm satisfied with the final outcome. Just looking at colors and options now I really love this model and will be back soon

Re: Hog!!

wow, 4 years ago..........I have been working overseas but still looking for that perfect deal to replace my beloved Kbike........finally found it and it was only 60 miles from my house!! It's an 09 TriColor with a mere 958 miles on it, absolutely mint condition, Factory upgrades include the titanium Akro, GPS, smoked windscreen and rear rack and saddlebags. Only paid 1/2 of what Geico paid me for my bike. I will try to post pics soon, need to brush up on how to do it lol

I still have all my upgrades from the white K and will transfer them to the new bike as time allows. Oberon slave cylinder, Corbin seat, R yoke, Throttlemeister, 50W lights, Power Commander V with Autotune, Escort 8500, Laser jammer, Progrip gel grips, Beech's 31mm plates, just need to get a centerstand......patience is indeed a virtue LOL
