Windsor-Oberon-Taralga ride Tues 18/8/15

Hey guys, Uncle Fester and I are planning to do the Windsor - Bell - Mt Victoria - Oberon - Taralga ride. Its the day after our CSS at Sydney Motorsport Park, Tuesday 18th August. After Taralga, Randall will head home, and i will probably just head back up the freeway home, unless there is plently of time, to do some more back roads home. I have never done that road from Oberon to Goulburn, so im really looking forward to that.
IT COULD BE COLD!!...... you were warned.......
...You will need a Tuesday off.

Finer details to come, but my guess is we meet at McGraths Hill, in the McDonalds carpark to set off.
here is the basic ride plan, some pretty amazing countryside.

cheers

Nothing like a school day for a fun ride

Count me in, we'll keep an eye on the weather. If it doesn't warm up a bit, it might be a bit dodgy, Oberon has had a lot of black ice lately

Good one Ray, if we have a few days like today around then it will be perfect!!
If there is black ice, we can do royal national park- Macquarie pass- etc

Hey Heapy, will be early (7-8am) but location is undecided until we know the roads will be free of any ice. We will be going for a day ride somewhere, regardless of weather.
Stay tuned!

We can talk about it at Richmond Ray, if you feel bells line of road could be a bit dicey first up, we can always head up to spring wood via yarramundi and go straight up the hwy to mount Vic. See how it looks in the morn

Matt, Ray and Randall, thanks for the ride yesterday.
Great day, no ice, snow or rain. Just cool clear blue sky.
650 odd K's.
Sorry, no photos from me. Call me chicken but I don't take photos at warp speeds.....

Thanks Grahame, great to have you along, and get the chance to sit down and have a yarn as well.
What a top day for a ride, and that run from Oberon to Taralga is just Magic!!
I usually take heaps of photos, unless i am on a "spirited" ride.

cheers

Re: Windsor-Oberon-Taralga ride Tues 18/8/15

Not many pictures on this run.... Only 2, but still evidence that we went on a ride.

Firstly, great to meet you Grahame (Heapy) and good to have Randall (uncle fester) and Ray (Rock0769) along. Thanks guys, it was a great run.
So we met up at 7:30am at Nth Richmond BP and rode up the bells line of road to bell, then cut across to Mt Victoria and down to Hartly , left onto the road to Oberon and got into Oberon mid morning, fueled up and found somewhere to have breakfast.
Parked up at Oberon

We decided to try the Monkey Bean Cafe, and noticed the only other bike in town parked up near the cafe, a Kawasaki 500 fully loaded up with bag and swag.
The boys got chatting to the owner of the bike and after I order my breakfast I walked over to say hello, she mentioned owning a 1200GT that needed some work, and I asked were she got it, was in the back of a shed, "Felicity" I said , I'm kiwi mat from the Ibmw forum, anyway, turns out felicity is a recent member on this forum (Saltpyxis)
Very nice to meet you Felicity, as the boys said, you dont need a BMW to come on the Rally, and we would love to have you along.
The Cafe breakfast was great, although they forgot Randalls breakfast, and Rays second coffee, not sure what they are smoking out at Oberon.......
I went over the road for a pie after a big breakfast..... had two James Squire Golden Ales instead, and we set off for Taralga and Goulborn.
A few beers and some great hot chips at a pub in Goulborn, and we headed back the same way home after saying farewell to Randall.
Was great to catch up Randall, and do the Californian Superbike School as well as the day ride with you, take care mate, hopefully i can make it to the Level 2 CSS day.
All up i did around 600KM.
Got to practice a little of what i learnt on the long open bends, WOW.
Great ride lads, do it again soon.

cheers
