Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

It'll be interesting to see Marquez v Viñales. COTA has been Markie Marks and I think he will finally get challenged. I hope so anyway.

FP 2 in the books, MM rises, as does Vale, go old man, go! Zarco is damn impressive too!

Marc Marquez leads day one at the Austin MotoGP after a late soft tyre lap put him ahead of rookie Johann Zarco.

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

If Johan Zarco can stay on the bike, he may throw a spanner in the works of all of the factory riders. It's looking like it might be a great race.

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

Thanks for posting that link! I was going nuts that I could only find evening replays on RCN. It's because it's on BeIn-6 instead of BeIn. Some stupid video about soccer, not even an actual game, noon Sunday. Must be more soccer fans than motorsports fans, but that's sick. BeIn should have more cable channels.

BeIn Connect online has the shittiest picture ever, worse than youtube on a flip phone.

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

MM puts it on pole, Rossi and Vinales have a little on track drama during qualifying, hoping for a great race. It would be nice if MM doesn't run away and hide as he has in the past. Times here, (and FWIW in 2015 MM's pole time was 2m 2.135 - .6 quicker in '15 than this year - '15 was on Dunlop tires, the last two years on Michelin's)

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

I noticed last week that Spectrum Cable has the BeIn Sports channel listed and the MOTO GP races posted. I tuned in to the station last week for the first time and it just said I'd need to upgrade to get it...

As I have the top-of-the-line "Caligula" tier package at Spectrum, I called them up and said.. I have the best package you offer and I pay out the ass for it... I shouldn't have to upgrade to anything... why am I not getting BeIn Sports...?"

The cable rep checked and said not only had he never heard of the channel (that they have listed) but he had no idea why we it was even on the menu as they didn't have access to their feed. He said as far as he could tell.. nobody was getting it through Spectrum. Geezz..

Jerry, you may be able to Stream it, and if you have Google Chromecast, "cast it to your TV - try this link https://beinsportsconnect.tv/index.html and look to see if Spectrum is listed as an access point, and if so you should be able to sign in with your Sepctrum user name and PW - hope this helps.

I think this is the direct link to sign in to the streaming programming https://ids.rr.com/nidp/saml2/sso although it doesn't seem to like Google Chrome so try it on IE or Firefox

BEin also covers World Superbike, which is a much more competitive series this season than the past few...

I notice that Bein Sports won't even have the premier class on live today - going at 5:30 EDT instead shocking what these cable operators are and have been getting away with. (I'm pulling cable altogether by Summer, as every one of my traditional sports coverage outlets has gone full-on soccer and liberal political commentary)

The MotoGP app with Videopass is worth every cent, IMHO... it's pretty much live from Thursday through checkers on Sunday, and all kinds of video in the library. With Chromecast you can send it to your TV, or watch on the tablet... Screw the cable!

I was there and saw Vinales crash out right in front of me. MM put on a show and Vale hung around to take second and the lead in the points!

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

Jason Pridmore and Greg White are really awful as commentators - and the BeInSports channel guide is awful - the MotoGP race went on here on the left coast at 2:10, not 5:10 as the channel guide indicated - fortunately I was recording it - an eventful race, MM continues his US dominance, and Rossi is playing Cool Hand Luke, keeping it on two wheels, running a smart race - although I suspect Zarco maybe taken out to the woodshed before the next race, anyway, Rossi leaves sitting on top of the championship points board, here's the results below images, Schwantz and KR Jr the last Suzuki world champs, and Vinales before the fall............

TE24 took the double in MA..would be good to see him win the MA championship to add to his previous accomplishments...the "Americans" now have a World Champion to contend with..& he's showing 'em how it's done...the '17 GSXRR's a formidable machine..RH did well in each race CB recovered in R2..JH ..faded..BF also..in R2..

Good to see VR46 still strong...

Glad the penalty didn't make a difference but how the hell was he suppose to know if he gained anything or not. Was he suppose to slow down, lose energy then get passed for doing so. One of the dumbest judgements I've seen. And .3...why bother? They knew it was stupid when they did it!

It was odd, plainly he was forced off the track by Zarco, and candidly I viewed it as a "racing incident" and neither deserved a penalty - although as noted earlier, I suspect Yamaha will "remind" Zarco to not fuck with MotoGP's golden goose.

Still scratching my head over the events of '15 they penalized Rossi by making him start the last race from the back of the grid for his run ins with Marquez - that one cost him the 2015 championship.

MotoGP politics... Dorna is Spanish, Marquez is Spanish...

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

Hey guys, help me here. I have looked it up on Google without much success. Talk to me about Moto3. What kind of engines are allowed? Which manufacturers are involved? Which engine seems to be the best to date?

As to the race, it was reasonably interesting, but I had the feeling early on that Marquez had plenty in reserve to reel in the leaders and win going away. I am not an expert, but it seemed that he was well in control early and had a bit to spare.

Thanks.

Tyson

So did Vinales. Til he fell.

That's the race everyone is waiting to happen.

Maybe next in Jerez. Spain. The crowd will absolutely go nuts for both home boys!

As far as 2015. It took two riders Lorenzo AND Marquez to beat Rossi, IMO.

This dates back to the beginning a few years ago, but I don't think a lot has changed...

Re: SPOILER - Austin USGP

Thanks, Kneedragger for the useful link. I had seen it earlier, but wondered if it was still in effect. I am very interested in whether there is more than one or two manufacturers participating. There wouldn't seem to be much incentive to put a lot of money in this tightly controlled class, but manufacturers continue to surprise us. Do you know any history of the class?

Thanks, again,

Tyson

Here's a bit on it Moto3, which evolved from 125cc two strokes,

Moto3™- 250cc four-stroke, one-cylinder machines.

Apart from the displacement and number of cylinders for each class, engine type is restricted to reciprocating piston engines with no super- or turbo-charging, while the bike may have no more than six gears.

The following are the minimum weights permitted:

MotoGP™ up to 800cc = 150 kg ; from 801 to 1000cc = 157 kg

Moto2™ motorcycle + rider = 215 kg

Moto3™ motorcycle + rider = 152 kg

The teams may add ballast to their bikes to achieve the minimum weights and the weight may be checked at the initial technical control, but the main control of weight is done at the end of practice sessions or at the end of the race. For the Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes, the weight checked is the total of the rider with full protective clothing plus the weight of the motorcycle.

In normal circumstances, each MotoGP™ team has two bikes prepared to race for each rider, so that there is no delay should a problematic bike need to be replaced before a race or before or during a practice or Qualifying session. Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes may have only one bike per rider.

No, I really don't know much about the class, although this season I have begun following their races, as they seem quite competitive and they definitely corner well!! I'll bet they're a blast to ride...
