MotoGP will race all-electric motorcycles in 2019

https://www.theverge.com/2017/5/9/15...-racing-series

Quote:
The world’s most popular motorcycle racing series is adding an all-electric class. Carmelo Ezpeleta, the CEO of the company that oversees the MotoGP racing series, told Motorsport.com that an electric support series featuring up to 18 bikes could start competing as early as 2019.

Four manufacturers have already committed to the series, according to Ezpeleta. The electric motorcycles will have a top speed of around 124 miles per hour, and the races will be about 10 laps long.

I wonder if they will be 2-wheel drive? Could get some outstanding acceleration that way, assuming front wheel stays on the ground.

They had an electric bike race at the last Indy MotoGP. It was boring as hell.

Re: MotoGP will race all-electric motorcycles in 2019

races are boring, if the difference in material (between teams) is too big ... which is kinda standard regarding electrics, at the moment ... have a look at the TT races.
if this is the same, in this case too, i would suggest a type of moto2 setup.

Re: MotoGP will race all-electric motorcycles in 2019

I really hate the way the "green thing" gets everywhere.......when did any form of motor sport become an economy run. After years of GP bikes having to have a silencer we got open pipes again when F1 had open pipes forever....... that's until the last couple of years of the crappy turbo/ electric era.
Oh well at least I will be spared the all electric transport thing, thank dog😎
