Hi everyone

Hi everyone,
I'm now the very proud owner of a K1300S HP which was part of a trade in with MK1 1200GS, the pushrod engined one.
I always fancied a lower faster bike but the K13 was always a bit of a dream.
I started a bit of fantasy search on eBay and Auto Trader for 39th Anniversary k13's and found a beauty on eBay. I called my Rainbow BMW in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and amazingly they had three K13's in stock and one of them was a HP.
A phone deposit went down on it and then a photo video came through! This was a very special bike.
An HP with forged alloy wheels and a digital instrument panel and only a 8,500 miles on the clock.
Deal done I collected a week later and they had done a full service on, it given it a MOT Cert and fitted a pair of Michelin Pilot Road 4 tyres, oh and a full tank of fuel.
What a fantastic bike and what a superb dealership,
I know it's got 174 hp according to the book but it's going to Hilltop Motorcycles in Hinckley to get re mapped. Not because I want any more power but because BMW's fuel maps run so lean to fit the whole world and they need to be Richard up.
I'll post what the results are mid September. Previously it gave my GS another 20 hp and improved the fuel consumption.
Go steady

Re: Hi everyone

Hi Capt Howdy and BiLLA
I'll do my best to spots the remap results. If they are anything like when I had my GS done I will be amazed as the K13 is an incredible bike with bucket loads of power from 30 mph in any gear.
Billa, I will again try and post a photo or two of the 1952 series C Comet I had. Sorry it wasn't a Shadder but never mind. It was a great bike to do a full restoration on but the reality of riding a bike designed in the late forties left a lot to be desired and with only 28 hp at best, making progress was impossible.

Re: Hi everyone

Hi Louis,
Sorry for not posting any pictures of my Comet. Quite frankly I just forgot all about it.
The bike had belonged to my late father and sometime after he died my mum asked me if I wanted it as it was of no interest to her.
As you can see from one of the images it was in a very sorry state but at least it was complete bike.
Over about a ten year period I slowly restored it to the state the other shots show it complete except for a chain.
Notice the Girdraulic forks that were made by the AVOS aircraft company. ( The makers of the Lancaster bomber and the Vulcan delta wing bomber ) Not dissimilar to our Hossacks forks, Phil Vincent would not use telescope forks as they were not as good as the Girdraulics.
As a piece of engineering design a Vincent can't really be beaten even today.
The restoration project was a real joy but alas the ride was very slow and primitive compared with just about any modern bike.
Sadly I lost all the digital images when the hard drive on my old laptop died so these are images taken from 35mm prints.
Hope you enjoy them.
All the best
Andrew

Re: Hi everyone

Hi Chris,
I got 605, in white and blue. The original owner must have had a very big bank account as it’s got every extra available except a centre stand.
I had remapped which got rid of the vibey engine and smoothed it out and gave it a considerable jump in power and torque throughout the Rev range.
All the best
Andrew

A beauty!

Well worth all the time spent on it.
